it wa* moved and carried that Mr.

Mr. Rouse expressed himself as de
lighted w ith the river. He had found
only two places ou the river that
will give the boat any trouble, and the
difficulties ol those two places, he can
easily get around by either having an
extra large power engine, or by put
ting on the boat a stout capstan
and using lines. Mr. Rouse
stopped at every point of Inter
est on the river, and finds all the
farmers and turjieuiine distillers along
iu line In favor of the boats, and all
the merchans anxious tor them as well.
Nearly everybody he saw expressed
their willingness to take stock in the
line, il a regular schedule was put oil
and a boat large enough to success
fully ply the Flint’s rapids wa* pro
cured. He found one turpentine dis
tiller that had five hundred barrels on
the river bank waiting to procure
some mean* of shipment, and many
others with le«s. The inerchaut*
of Baiubridge say they will subscribe
*everal thousand dollars to the boats,
if a regular schedule i* guaranteed.
Mr. Rouse is satisfied since his in
vestigation, that he can very safely
guarantee fifteen per ceut. on the
money Invested.
The report was received witli en
thusiasm, and much discussion was
had as to the kind of boat, etc., the
general current of which was to the
effect that the boat be of the best and
largest make, and the engine be
specially built to meet Die needs of the
Flint river; and that the boat be bui't
right here in Albany.
Mr. T. M. Carter then moved that
