W e are about to publish the most re-
mnrkable experience which has ever
been known in the history of the
world. It occnred in Sidney Ohio, and
is a case which not only includes the
most clear and definite of statements
from the person herself, bat which has
all the absorbing realism of romance,
and ail the force of unquestionable
truth. Following is the statement,
which can be read with the greatest
lutcreat:
“I sm a young lady, and like most
young ladies, shrink from apperibg in
public or seeing tny name In pnnt, but
I hava passed through au experience
so remarkable that I feel compelled to
make It public. I know there are
many young ladies, elderly ladies, and
men too, for That matter, wha are in
he very greatest dancer, and yet who
do not know it. To all such my ex-
perierce will prove in valuable.
A little over two years ago 1 took a
8- vere cold, and, as so many others do,
carelessly neglected It. : It was very,
very auno5lng, and I kept thinking
every d*y it would pass away, but, in
stead of doing so, it grew worse. 1

each with its special apparatus. For
the first stage is used the mixture of
sulphurous and carbolic acids known
as ‘-Pictet’s fluid,” which Is condensed
at a pressure of about two atmospheres
a spiral tube cooled by water.
Oxide of nitrogen (laughing gas) is
the liquid chosen for the second stage,
it is condensed at a pressure of 10 or
12 atmosphere in a tube kept at 80 =>
below zero by the action of the fl: st
circuit. For the third stage air is em
ployed, aud passes into the liquid state
st a pressure of 75 atmospheres when
thc temperature is kept at 135 => below
zero by the other circuits. The evsp
oration of the liquefied air gives a cold
of about 200 3 below zero. Absolute
zero is placed at 273 3 below zero C.,
but Prof. Pictet regards 255? brlow
zero as about the lowest attaiijab'e
artificial temperature. One of the ef
fects of great cold has been the conver
sation of quicksilver into beautiful
fern-like crystals. Glycerine also has
has been crystallized; anu cognac has
been given by freezing thc peculiar
mellowness commonly attained only
by long keeping. The most impor
tant result thus far, however, has been
- .been the purifi cation of chloroform, the
crystals that form in the commercial
chtorolorm at about 6S 3 below zero
being almost absolutely pure.

the enterprise that he spoke of.
It may be that he. will bo located
here permanently after his return now
and will send for his family to join
him. Whether he will ^pursue this

Impressed with Albany as aa attrac

'The Atlanta Journal, a competitor

Grover Cleveland.
For this neither paper is to be Cen
sured, aud no complaint whatever is to
he made, but when it narrows down to
-he point that one paper il ls its col
umns cue day with articles for Hill,
and the other comes back in a spirit ol
contest and urges Cleveland, keeping
hu up from day to day, and enlisting
iha attention of the State by having
correspondents to take polls of popu
lar preference, and each one claiming
for ;t* candidate tho more popular
•hoico, it becomes interesting to the
public, because, it is shown in the las*
4nai}sis that it is a contest between
newspapers, and not a tost of political
strength of the national candidates.
We w Ish i: distinctly understood
hat this is not our light but the atti
tude of these t .vo papers, two cf Geor
gia's leading journals, has been com
mented upon by the reading public,
md the contest between them is depre
cated by thc people at large.
It is the concensus of opinion that
he fight is not with the people ol th
South. We stand just as we have a!
vhvs done in a position, to give our
159 electoral votes to tho nominee ol
no Democratic party. Wo are virtti-
d!y placed where we hays no voice
v hair vet in this matter because fiad-
ng it .impossible to divide aud split,
lading it .disastrous to the political
management and control of our sec
tion to form any mugwump party here
*r split our electoral vote we are nec
essarily compelled zy accept she uom
utc of the party, and give our vote
iccordlngly.
This is a statement wo arc satisfied
no Democrat In thc South is prepared
io deny, and for that reasoa we make
it without the logical proof leading up
to it. Iz demands no proof, ami re
quires no ccmocs.ration. We are sim
ply placed in the position to accept tbe
candidates named, and this we musr
do irrespective of our personal prefer
ences.
Then why should we cr* ate dissen-

“ In the summer of IBM I was sent to the
Annapolis hospital, suffering with clironlo
diarrhea. 'While there, I became so re
duced in strength that I could not speak amt •»
was compelled to write everything I wanted
to say. I was then having some 25 or ro
stools per day. Tbe doctors ordered a medi
cine tlmt I was satisfied would be of no
benefit to me. I did not take It, but per
suaded my nurse to get me some of Dr.
Ayer's PHIs. About two o’clock in tho after
noon I took six of these pills, and by mid
night began to feel better. In tbe morning
the doctors came again, and after deciding
tliat my symptoms were moro favorable, gave
me a different medicine, which I did not use.
bnt took four more of the pills instead. Tho
next day the doctors came to see me, and
thought I was doing nicely, (and so did I).
I then took one pill a day for a week. At the
end of that time, I considered myself cured
and that Ayer’s Pills had saved my life. I
was then weak, but bad no return of tho
disease, aud gained In strength as last as
could be expected.”—F. a Luce, Lots Lieut
