Council of tho City of Albany, On., nnd it Is
hereby ordained by authority of the same, That
any person desiring to carry nu a plumbing
Iniidlicsa in the City of Albany, shall, before re
ceiving n license, ns required by the annual li
cense,ordinance, file hi* petition with the Hoard
of Water Commissioners, giving the name of
the linn and place of business. The petition
must guarantee thut tliu plumber is thoroughly
competent and responsible, and that lie will
abide by and lie governed by the rale* of the
Water Commission, and the ordinances of the
City of Alhauy. lie ahull also give satisfactory
bond iu tliu sHin of live hundred dollars, indem
nifying and saving lumnlcsH the Mayor and
Council of the City of Albany, Gu., from any
accidents or damages winch may result from
his neglect or violation of said rules or ordi
nances. Said bond to lie made payable to tliu
Mayor and Council of the City of Albany, (in.
aud their successors in office, and to lie 111v«l
witli tho Clerk of the City Council. No plumb
ers license shall bo issued to any employe of the
city, or to the agent of such employe.
SEC. II. Ho It further ordained. That plumb
ers must make full ami complete returns to the
Hoard of Water Commissioners for all purposes
to which water has been applied, under any
permit granted to them, in accordance with the
rules nnd requirements of said Commission, nnd
said return must be made within 48 hours after
completion of suid work.
Sxc. III. Heit fiutlior ordained, Thut all at
tachments, by ferrule or otherwise, to any of the
water mains or distributing pipes shall lit- done
under the supervision, ami according to Hie ap
proval of, the Superintendent of the W utei-
works.
Sec. IV. Ho it further ordained. That m
plumber, or other person, shall make an attach
ment, or alter or extend any water pipes or at
tachments, unless the applicant has complied
with the rules aud regulations of the Hoard of
Water Commissioners.
SKC. V. All material removed in the streets
or alleys by the piamber, in . making hi:
trendies, shall be replaced in as good condition
as before disturbed; and no trench shall be left
open after nightfall unless properly guarded by
lights and other means. Unnecessary obstruc
tions to travel or inconvenienco to pedestrians
is positively prohibited in making trenches and
attachments.
Sec. VI. Bo it further ordained, That any vio
lators of the aforesaid regulations by the plumb
er, or any other person or persons, will subject
the offender, upon conviction, to a line not ex
ceeding treble the amount of damages appear
ing to have been sustained.

bo fined in a sum not exceeding flrty dollars, or,
be imprisoned in the guard house, or at work
on tliu streets for a time not exceeding one hun
dred days; and any or all of these punishments
may bo imposed.
