AN ORDINANCE.
Freaeriblng additional rules and regulations
governing plumbers, and manner of connection
with waterworks system.
Hkction 1. Re It ordained by the Mayor and
Council ot the city of Albany, Us., and It Is
hereby ordained by the authority of tho sanio
That tho following rules and regulations
govurnlng plutnlMirs, and eonneotluns with tho
waterworks system, heretofore approved by the
Hoard of Water Commissioners, be and the
samo arc hereby adopted au ordinance of said
city, to become of force and effect immediately
upon the publication of the same:
1. No plumber or other persou shall make an
attaehment to any old pipe or water fixtures or
to any part of the waterworks system, or to any
pipo where water has been tui-uod off, nor shall
any plumber or other person alter or extotid
any water pipes or attachments to conduct any
wator into any adjoining prwmises or any ad
ditional hydrant, stable, water closet, urinal,
wash basin, cistern, or fountain or for any pur-
I rase whatsoever, without obtaining written
permit from tho waterworks authorities for
uuoh ami every separate modification or ex
tension Hindu; niui in overy instance the
plumber, after hnving tested his work, must
turn tho water off, report and return his por-
mil to tho waterworks uitleo within forty-eight
hours after completing Ills work.
2. All supply pipes must bo luiil to a dcptli
satisfactory to tho waterworks authorities, and
all service pipe or nny material whatever,
which muy be nltaohed to the water pipe shall
be of tho stnmlnrd strength, quality and kind
required by llie Superintendent.
3. Water will not bo furuislu'd to any descrip
tion of closet or urinal not provided witli a self-
closing valve or stoji-cook, such ns may lx> re
quired by tho waterworks authorities.
4. There shall bo a brass atop and waste cock
on the service pipe within the premises, to be
iitulor the control of nnd at the expense of tho
wntor consumer; for tho pur|>oae of guarding
against leaks and ncaidenU.
A. Water must not bo turned on or off under
any circumstance, to nny premises or for nny
purpose, but by the authority of tho Superin
tendent, excopt only by tho plumber for testing
Ids work, who must turn tho water off immedi
ately, according lo tho witliin rules. .
8ko. S. lie it further ovdallied, That any vio
lation of tho aforesuid rules and regulations by
tho plumlicr or any ortlior person or porsons
will subject thu offender, upon conviction,
to a flue not exceeding 950 and cost or imprison
ment, or nt work on the streets or'publio works,
not oxuceding fifty days. Flumbers not observ
ing these rules and regulations will also forfeit
their licenses and their right to do business or
receive plumbers permits from the waterworks

8ko. 2. He it further ordained, That

sustained, n in the last two lines of said section,
and inserting in lion thereof, tho following
words, to-wit: “One hundred dollars, or im
prisonment in the Guard House, or at work on
the streets or public works for a time not ex
ceeding ono hundred days, and any or all or
these penalties may lie inflicted.”
