At 4 o’clock yesterday morning a
member of the family went to Mr
Fitt’e bedside and fonnd that he had
died sinoe the midnight hoar. The end
was qniet and peaoefol, aa no onb In the
house heard any unoinal noise In the
■loll room.
The funeral took place at 10 o’olock
this morning from the reetdenoe, and
the body was interred In OakVIew oem
etery. Rev. W. F. Smith, pastor of the
Methodist nhnroh, performed the last
rite* at the house and the grave.
Mr Fitts had been, for a' number of
years, in the employ of the Central of
Georgia railway, ahd he was highly es
teemed by the offioials' of that
system. For the pest eight
or nine year*, and np to
a few month* ago, he was railroad
yardmaater at this point, whloh position
he filled with credit. He took a ran on
the road aa oonduotor after giving np
his position aa yardmaster on aooonnt
of impaired health. Ho had a great
many friends who siuoerely mourn his
death. He U survived by his devoted
wife and by six children, the eldest of
whom are Mrs J. I. Gilbert, Mr. Will
Fitts and Miss Bertha Fitts, all of this
olty.
