The first car of watermelons from this point will also probably go forward this week. Homeless and hnngry women and children are exposed to elements and wandering through tho moan tains crying for relief. The sick are without medical attention or food and the dead ate left uaburied. Only quick relief can prevent heavy mortality among the helpless sufferors. A dispatch from Dawson says that J. It. Calhoun, of near Brouwood, died on Monday from tho effects of strychnine poisoning. It seems that the poisonous drug was sent to Mr. Oolbonn by Oscar Davison, a clerk in the drag store of H. A. Hall of Brouwood, for morphine. Coroner W. J. Lewis held an inquest over the body of the deceased and the jury rendered a verdict that the deceased oame to his death from .strychnine poisoning, and that the strychnine was sold by Osoar Davison through careless- Mr. Joseph P,.
