LOSS OVER $150.000!
It is our painful duty to record one of

Tiik Bankuiti Law.—The new bank,
rujit law, passed by Congress,and signed,
by the President, establishes a uniform j
system of bankruptcy for tho whole
country.
The act, which lakes effect at once, sweeps '
away all State insolvent ami stay laws and J
for imprisonment for debt, and, although it i
luay not be perfect in all its pn Visions, will
be hailed with gratification by the wh ile {
country. It has been justly said that the
absence of a uniform law of bankruptcy
in this country lias been au opprobrium 1
to itM legislation. This law, while it ac
complishes tho deliverance of the hopelessly
impoverished debtor, also provides for t|»o
security of the creditor. . v
