to be onfranebived in Ohio yet. The thing
has been so adroitly managed that tho con

at the samo time a rnfe apology found for
defeating it, without compromise of party
fealty to the ahstraot dogma. .A largo por

is vory reluctant to give suffrage, to tho
blacks, and for n long thno tho proposition
in tho Legislature was hojd back, and at
one time it was defected there. There was
a general concession that on tho naked
proposition, togivo tho right of suffrage to
Ohio blacks, tho yarty would bo defeated
in tho State. Politically, it is a question of
minor importance, for of tho two millions
and a hall of inhabitants in Ohio, the
black population is hut 30,078; and the
number of voter* to bo added by tho enfran
chisement bt the blaeks wonld not exceed
700Q. The number of votes cast at tho
eisotion last year was about 470,000. Tho

of expense, none can compare with it in
Cheapness. With a tioket from Albany to

Is from fifty to two hundred per cent, above
