The busy season was nearly over when wo
commenced, and followed by the general
prostration of business, arriving from .the po
litical status and Militnry bill. Wu think
ourselve^ fomnnte to have escaped thus far
'without incurring loss, 'especially ns oiir
expenses have bcin heavy.
Our intercourse with the people of.Soulli-
western Georgia has been of the most plea
sant character, and our friendships formed
we trust will ever coutiuuc. Especially do
we feel grateful to the citizens, who, while
we were yet a stranger, extended a hand of
assistance, and by a liberal patronaga have
continued to manifest thoir appreciation.—
When we needed friends most, they came
to uur relief. Wo aro glad that our associ
ations have been mutually beneficial, and
wo shall try in the future to merit the same
good will
As our means will enable us, we will
mnke improvements in the mechanical de
partment by increasing our facilities f'orjok
work, nml for the better appearance of the
paper. Wo are also endeavoring to luako

Be it ordained by the Mayor and Member» of Council
of the city of Albany, and it ie hereby ordained by
authority of the eame, that
Y the tint day of May in each and every year
^ there shall be appointed by the. Mayor and
JonBcil three citisene, freeholder* ofthe city, whose
duty It shall be to aaaeea the value of all the Real
Estate in-ihia eity subject to taxation, and make i
return thereof under oath to Council by the first
day of July following, which ahall constitute a pan
of the Tax Digest for each year. And it shall he
the duty ofthe Clerk, from the former book* and
auch other aourcee at he may dlaoover, to make out
a list of th* defaulter* a* to such real estate, and
furnish the same to the Assessors, whose duty
ahall be to asiess th* value thereof and return their
asaeasment to th# Clerk of Council. When theown-

Gen. Sickles. Andrew Johnson is not per

conveyed to said Parmlee certain lota and parts
lots of land, lying in the seventh district of Bakji
county, known as numbers two hundred and forty,
(240) and two buudred and two, (202) each contain
ing Iwo hundred and fifty acres, and lot number two
hundred and one, (201) with the exception of fif
teen and one-eixth acres off of the south end of said
lot, and tha undivided one-half of l?t number two
hundred and thirty-nine, the said part of 201 con
taining two hundred nnd thirty-four and five-sixth
acres, and th* said part of two hundred and thirty-
nine containing ona hundred and twenty five acres,
for the purpose of securing the payment of three
(8) promissory notes made by the said. Wise, each
dated th* said let of January, 1802, and payable
with Interest from date, on* payable twelve months
after date, for $2910 16, twenty nine hundred and
sixteet|i.dollars and aixteen cents; the second pay
able two years after datefbr said sum ($2910 10)
an^ the third note due three years after dele, fof
the said turn ef $2910 10. The whole ofsaid notes
amounting to th* said sum of Elghty-8even Hun
dred and Forty-Eight Dollars and forty-eight cents,
and which said nous are now dae and unpaid.
It is.Qrdcred that said William 8. Wise do pay
iato this Court hy th* first day of next term, the
principal, interest and ooxt due upon said notes,
•how cause, if any he can, to the contrary, and ...
default thereof foreclosure to he granted to the said
Charles H. Parmlee of eald mortgage, and the
equity of redemption of th* said William 8. Wise,
therein he forever barred, and that service of this
role be perfected on said William S. Wise accord
ing to law.
