The election was remarkably
quiet for such a large contest and
bo many people here. \Ve never
heard of a single arrest and saw
but little drunkenness.
We are indebted to Mr. J B. Ben
net for some fine sugar cane.
While we were morally certain
that the democrats would carry
the election by a safe majority the
land slide has been so complete
that we can hardly compose our
jubilant feelings long enough to
write up the returns.
The boys have come home from
the war. The greater part of them
took discharges, but some of them
including Mr. Willie Fulcher are
home ou furloughs and will return
very soon to do garrison duty if
the flrrt regiment is not mustered

Mr. J. G. Blitch has opened up
a dressmaking business. Madam
Thompson, a very accomplished
lady who has been engaged in this
kind of work for years both at the
porth and at Valdosta, Ga. will
have charge of this department,
and wo feel sure 1 hat you can be
