Dickson e Mill.
Last Saturday we took n trip cutt to
Dickson By id’s store, a distance
twelve mile* north of Blackshear. We

This is the first issuo rif tho News.
We hope that our friends and patrons
will extend the same share of patron¬
age that they did to the Little Gem
and if so, wediope soon, to enlargo and
continue to do so until w’e succeed
in rearing a paper in Blackshear to bo
boasted of by the people of all south¬
ern Georgia, and one that, tho citir.ins
of Pierce (The home of the News) can
be proud of and rejoice at it’s reception

being ranked among that class class
we do not procrastinate in acknowlede
ing it and glad that w-o aro poor; but by
fair dealing and honest living we hope
to make a paper worthy of total esteem.
We have not had the advantage of va¬

Macon Fair.
The fair at Macon, opened on the
28th, instant according ta notice. But
few ot our friends of Blackshear, at¬
tended. Tw’o or three weeks ago near¬
ly every body was talking of going to

drop off uutil they were ootnparitively
speaking, all dropped off
