If the defeat of Bohinson of New
York is the death of Tilden’s hopes for
. the Democratic nomination we shall
feel in a great measure reconciled to
Cornell’s election. We can stand Bay

The principal witness against;.the
Paris Brothers was Kphiann kirns, col
ored, who swore that lie saw them enter
the warehouse in Saluiday and apply
their eegais to the cetlen. The fire
broke out- iu the warehouse between
twelve ana one o’clock.
Messrs. J. M. Hamilton'and son
swore that the Parises left town, accom
panied by them, about- nine ojciock in
the mornrug, and at 12 p’,clock or about
the time,the fire broke o.ut, they were
more than twenty miles from Hawkins-
Y'lle.
Hon. Hiram Williams, of. Dooly,
swore.that the Parises passed him on
the road between 11 and 12 o'clock, at
least seventeen miles fromHawkinsville.
Other witnesses testified that the Par
ises left Hawkinsvilla in the morning.
The trial was not concluded until
about eleven o’clock on Saturday nigbt.

0. G. Kibbee, L. C. Ryan, Esq., and
Capt. J. H. Martin, of Hawkinsville,
and the accused by Captain J. C. Ruthr

testimony, concluded to bind the defen
dants over, fixing their bonds;at. five:
thousand dollars each. The bonds were
promptly made, and the Parises*: to
gether with their counsel and frieuds,
left immediately for their respective

The Parises were accompanied to
Hawkiu-sville by some of the wealthiest
"and most influential gentleman of Tay
lor county, and they, as well as their
friends, claim that they can prove them
selves enthely inucctnt of the tolerable
charge against them, . Their cares will
probably,be disposed of next week, as
our Superior Court convenes on Monday
