the subject well hsndled. *No doubt*! Sl ’*'
it made some of us feel that we will
take it to ourselves.
March is marching on with her
sails hoisted to the utmost, whistling
and blowing. We certainly have
had a combination of weather this
month, strong winds, rain, light
ning and an unusual amount of
thunder. * V
Corn planting has been the order
lor the last week. Some are through
while others have just begun.
While farm work has been some
what retarded, we believe our farm
ers are pretty well up with their
business, notwithstanding the re
cent excessive rains.
We are informed that Easter Sun
day will be observed here and a pro
gram has been arranged. Let all
come out who can.
Mrs. F. 0. Henderson and son, E.

Sunday to visit her daughter, Mrs.

the medical treatment of Dr. J. B.

Mr. G. T. Brown gave me yester
day a smoked hog jole, now if some,
other fellow will just furnish the
turnips, we’ll have a jolly jole killing
time.
! I am just in the fix, Mr. Editor,
that the Dutchmam and his dog
was that I read about in your pa
per. The dog is having a good
time but I am not. Mrs. Bedge is
off and I am chief cook and bottle
washer. I am like a pellican of the
wilderness and an owl of the des
sert” l am as a sparrow alone upon
a house top, but it is an ill wind
that blows no good, but I’ll have a
good time eating eggs all the same.
Mr. Dempsy Brown said he saw a
wild cat’s track some days ago close
to Grovania. Now Dempsy, I think
that was Fido’s track.
The many friends regret to hear
of Miss Miller having the pneumo

Mr. Jack Hodge of Henderson

visitors to our place Sunday. Come,
again boys, but don’t come on the

The Atlanta Constitution last Sun
day was simply overwhelming in its
prodigiousness. Fifty pages bewil
dered the reader—entirely too much
for one day. The four pages of
southern advantages were more than
Worth a year’s subscription. Cer
tainly the Constitution is a constitu
tional affair of great and increasing
merit.
She was a true Christian lady, a
devoted mother and loving grand
mother, ever ready to sacrifice her
own pleasure for that of others. She
was left a widow in 1861, with four
small, children, and had a hard
struggle; but God is merciful to
those who trust Him and rewarded
her last peaceful days—she lived to
see them loved and honored by all
who know them.
Mrs. Garvin adorned every sphere
in which she moved, by her dignity,
fidelity and devotion; selfishness had
no place in her sweet nature. She
was loved by all who knew her.
Gentleness and amiability were
leading traits of her character, and
influenced by these, she had a kind
word for all whom she met.
She was 64 years old when she
fell asleep in Jesus. Oh, if we could
only say one comforting word to
those in distress! But, alas! that is
denied us. God alone can do that.
To the desolate hearts these words
are fitting:
Sleep on, my love, in thy cold bed
Never to be disquieted;
My last good-night,thou wilt not wake
Till I thy fate shall overtake.
