Marriage At Elko.
The most important social
event of the season was the mar
riage of Miss Edyth Houser to
Mr. Clarke Grier Hardeman on
last Wednesday, 8t'h, at high
noon, in the Elko Methodist
church.
Long before the bridal party
arrived, the church which had
previously been beautifully deco
rated with evergreen and bamboo,
etc., was filled. Promptly at the
appointed hour Mrs. Lee Paul,
with Mr. Houser Edwards, usher,
entered the right aisle and Miss
Lula Houser witn Mr.Rich Means,
usher, came in the left aisle. Miss
Lula Houser then sang “Faith
ful,” while Mrs. L. M. Paul of
Perry, presided at the organ.
At the conclusion, Mrs. Paul
rendered Mendelssohn’s wedding
march, while the attendants
marched in. First came Misses
Stella Taylor of Macon and Mary
Eilis of Grovania, followed by
Messrs. Tom Johnson and Louis
Shepherd of Macon; then came
Misses Bessie Houser of Perry and
Lillie Houser of Macon, followed
by Messrs. Leonard Whitman and
Jim Tindall of Macon; afterwards,
Misses Mary Grace and Elma
Houser of Elko entered followed*
by Messrs. Eugene Houser and
Will Starr of Macon. Then oame
the maid of honor, Miss Annie
Hardeman of Macon with the
bride. Miss Edyth Houser, who
were joined under a beautiful arch
of evergreens in front of the chan
cel by Mr. Lawton Houser, best
man, and Mr. Clark Greer Har
deman, the groom, who had en

Rev; H. C. Brewton performed
the ceremony in an impressive
style, during; ’which Mrs. Paul

After the ceremony the bride

Don’t think, Mr. Editor, be-
bause you hare heard nothing
of us recently, that we have ceas
ed to exist. Since our last com
munication, we have had two most j
delightful entertainments. On
Friday, Jan. ^Brd, Miss Evelyn
Powers entertained in a ihost
charming manner. The club was
well attended, and by the request
of the h'ostess, the business por
tion of the meeting was omitted.
The entire time was speht social
ly. “Gay chatting” being’ the
chief feature. Miss Powers in
troduced a very < interesting and
improving game, after which de
lightful refreshments]! were served
in a pleasing manner. On last
Friday afternoon the Misses Ro
gers entertained. Two moro
charming hostesses are not to be
found, and it is needless to say,
we enjoyed every moment. Af
ter the business was over, we were
served with delightful refresh
ments by little Kathrine, Helen
and Oproline Cuter, and Master
Cater" Rogers. At this meeting,
new officers wei’e elected. The
Club is on a boom, and “dpar
sisters,” your new Club Editor
promises to do her best, oven
though she be not “talented”.

that Mr. Henry Byrd had four
rats in hi* trap, so friend Barker
borrowed a rat from Mr. Byrd,
put it in his own trap and waited
two days for results. As the rats
refused to be enticed into Mr.
Barker’s trap, he became impa

his barn and killed 86 of the ro

anyone can beat this, let them
