—The prize rat story was told
by a citizen of Perry last Monday.
He said: One rainy day last week
150 rats were killed in the barn of
Charlie Roes, a progressive color
ed farmer about four miles from
Perry on the Hayneville road.
These rats weighed an aggregate
of 76 pounds, 77 of them weighing | sale,
a fraction less than a pound each.
These rats were used to fertilize
cotton to be planted in a field
near the barn. This incident
might be termed a rat-i-fication
meeting.
