that the welfare of its inhabitants
and the interest of the City de

To The Qualified Voters Of The City of
Perry, Georgia: i
You are hereby notified that on
the. 17th day of October, 1921, an
election will be held in said City,
at which will be submitted to ,tlie
qualified voters thereof, for their
determination, the question
whether bonds shall be issued by
said City in in the aggregate sum
of Twelve Thousand Dollars,
[$12,000] for tho purpose of pro
viding fundswith which to extend
the water-works system in said
City.f
All’bonds shall bear date of
December 1st, 1921, shall be in
denomination of One Thousand
Dollars [$1,000] each, and shall
bear interest at tho rate of six
percent [6). per annum, payable
semiannually on the first day of
Juno and December, in each year,
aud the principal of said bonds
shall become due and payable as
follows: $1,000 December 1st each
of the years 1934 to 1945, both in
clusive.
The principal and interest of
said bonds shall be payable in
gold coin of the United (States of
America of the present standard
of weight and finneuoss at the
Hanover National Bank, in New
York City: New York.
Those desiring to vote for said
Water-Works Extension . Bonds
shall do so by casting ballots

BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor
and Aldermen of the City of Perry,
Georgia, that
WHEREAS, it appears to tho s.\t

Red Cross Gives
$310,000 to Aid
‘Clean-Up’ Drive
An appropriation of $310,000 for
Red Cross work In connection with the
“dean-up” campaign Instituted by the
Government to bring the claims of all
disabled service men who are entitled
to Federal aid before the proper gov
ernment bureau for action, has been
made' by the American Red Cross.
The Executive Committee of the
American Red Cross in making the
appropriation authorized the appropri
ation of $35,000 of this sum to the
American Legion to defray the ex
pense of the . Legion representatives
assigned to the various districts of
the Veterans Bureau.
The remainder of the appropriation
was authorized for apportionment
among the several Divisions of the
Red Cross for carrying on that part
of the "clean-up” work that falls di
rectly upon the Red Gross organization.
Hearing Waived For Mrs. Minnie Derr
Akron, Ohio.—Attorneys for Mrs.
Minnie L. Derr, charged with second
degree murder in connection with the
death of her husband, A. R. Derr, Ak
ron business man, waived preliminary
hearing In police court and was; bound
over to the grand jury under $20,000
bond. Mrs., Derr remained silent
throughout the court proceedings.
Negro Begs Sheriff To Hang Him
Jackson, Miss. — Henry Martin,
negro. convicted of murder, .whose
death sentence Is pending on appeal
before the supreme court, is making
frantic appeals to Sheriff L. B. Wil
liams to come on and hang him right
away. "I just can’t stand it any long
er," Martin told the sheriff recently.
"This suspense is killing me. Let's
forget about the courts and have it
over with." This is perhaps the most
unusual request ever made, but there is
no doubt whatever of the sincerity of
t;he negro.
