% II. ANDREW & SON,

Rome, Italy—Benito Mussolini, anti-
Socialist premier, who rode iuto power
as head of four hundred thousand arm
ed Fascistl, has ordered the mobffl'aa-
tion of his forces to combat "political
intriguers.’
The “black shirt" prime minister has
announced that liiS Fascist! followers
are being organized into a national
militia of which he would be comma'll*
der-in-chief. He will call out the mili
tia, Mussolini states', any lime that na
tional interests demands its services.
Mussolini makos it clear that he is
not mobilizing his forces for personal
protection, but for the safety of the
nation against enemies at homo. He
s^ys he had no need for a bodyguard.
Members of the reorganized Fascist!
legion will be chosen from the veterans
of the world war, those who by their
exploits have proved tlumselves loyal
to their chief.
Bureaucracy in a number of Italian
banks is beading a movement to oppofd
the Fascist! government, arcording to
the Idea Nnzionale, an influential n.wr-
paper. The paper also states that some
of the. Freemasons are referred to in
the prime minister’s allusion to “po
litical intrigues.“
In tome circles that move of Sum
i-olini, who has just reuirntd from the
allied premiers' conference at London,
as taken ns a challenge to fonficr Pie-
inter Giolitti, whose newspapers have
been attacking the Fascist! administra
tion in a veiled manner.
The resentment of Mussolini against
the opposition press canie io a head in
London whon ho told presb representa
tives of publications of his political
enemies to send out the stories as he
gave them or their newspapers would
be suppressed.
Mussolini apparently has concluded
that .the hero worship of the Fascist!
and the docility of his political l'oea
can no longer sustain him in office
against the machinations of "political
intriguers.”

After 8 Months Service, Gets Trial
Atlanta.—Sometimes the wheels of
jystice grind slowly. Prison recoMs
bear mute evidence of certain instances
where innocent men have served terms
and paid the penalty for another’s
crime. Destiny occasionally weaves a
skein of circumstantial evidence which
results in the sentence of the court be
ing imposed on the wrong "defendant.”
Whether this he true, * or not, in tho
ca-so of Joe Smith, Philadelphia me
chanic, who was notified at the Atlanta
federal prison that his application for a
new trial ' had been granted by tho
United States court of appeals, is food
for thought, 'according to local govern
