Her head was bad all morning, but
it worked off during the afternoon."
The man entered a store.?"Have

"No sir," answered the clerk
"but wo have some nice counters."

FAVORS DIVIDING ROAD GANG WITH
NEW COUNTY
To Whom It May Co?cern:
Since the beginning of civili
zation there has been a strife of
emulation between individual* |
and all political subdivisions of
the earth, more especially Is this
true where both parties or sides
are of about equal strength; this
has been very noticeable in cases |
of cities of about equal size in
same state and towas in the same
county; this rule applies as we all
kuow very forcibly to Houston
County a? we have had ene ef the
most heated and continued politi
cal strifes for and against the es
tablish merit of Peach County ever!
recorded upon the pages of civiliz
ed history.
The writer being one of the op
ponents to the creation of Peach
County, being born and reared in
the central part of Houston Coun
ty had learned to love the people
'as a whole of the county, knew
the boundry lines, and knowing
Houston County contained some
of the very best people of the
world, naturaly wanted them to
continue as one and an inscpera
ble family. However how great my
desire and ot her# to continue to
live in the same Houston family,
we have been separated by county
lines only in the creation of Peach
County.and the good loving people
who lived on each side of the
Peach County line ?(ill live where
we did before, and our love for
each other should be by all means
as groat as ever with no malice or
hatred to anyone regardless of po
litical stand he took, or where he
lives.
Tho writer understands there
was an agreement on the part of
the advocates of Peach County to
give to Houston County the chain
gang consisting of three sections;
also to pay her (Peach County's)
prorata part of Houston County's
indebtedness, this agreement has
been iive up to on tho part of
Poach County advocates without
a desenting voice so far as the
writer knows and this is right.but
in fairness and justice I ask if it
would not be doing unto your
brother as you would have him do
unto you for we people of Houston
County to tender to our good
friends and neighbors of Peach
Countp one seetion of our chain
gang! They have at least paid
for it aud I for one am ready and
more than willing to do this be
cause I feel 1t to he just, honest,
honerable and right and honesty
never hurts anyone. We do not
need but two sections of tho gang
and we ran not sell the other to
any greats advantage, and if we
could, is it. not. right to give it to
Peach County? I forone contend
it is. One of Pearh County's
most public highways has been
i in passable for some t ime on ac
count of t he heavy rains and no
gang to repair same, causing a
great inconvenience to both Peach
and Houston County citizens.
Pencil count;*' section has had
hut little work from the Houston
County chain gang for some time,
nnturaly the roads arc not in good
condition and I for one who op
posed Peach County move that wo
tender one section of our chain
gang to Peach County with the
very best of brotherly love and
and feeling and lets ail each :ind
#evcry one stand ready to do nil in
our power to he!p each other in
every way possible
The above is written after due
and deliberate coiwideration,with
out the slightest, solicitation upon
the put of anyone and in the face
of any opposition from either side
I hold the above to be based upon
the soliti foundation of honesty
and justice and conscientiously
believing in the ultimate 'Mitconie
we will be proud we have acted
th us.

Sincerely.

AN APPRECIATION
* The perry consolidated public
schools, both teachers and pupils
deeply appreciate the enthusiastic
support manifested in favor of
building a modern athletic build
ing in our town.
We appreciate this primarily
because of the strong school spirit
indicated by such a hearty re
sponse from the general puhlic.
No school can progress beyond
the level of sentiment held by the
majority of people in favor of
better edueatiou. The good people
of our town and community have
certainly expressed their desire
for better education in the past 12
months.
The teachern and pupils again
wish to thunk the public for their
support, ask the contiauance of
samo. aud pledge the best service
possible in icturn.
