POLLYANNA
The worst pos
sible way to make
friends. Bill says,
is lo make touches.
Bill says the
softest job in the
world is picking a
rooster's teeth.
The girl who thinks
no man is good enough
for her is often right,
but she's more often
left.
She may siog like a
nightingale in church
anu scratch liku a cat at home.
AMERICA
(As it may he sung now)
My country's dry to me,
This laud of liberty
Is closed up tin hi!
No matter whcie I go
The answer's always "No"
Unless I shyly show
That I'm all right.
Some natives over here
Can only drink near-beer.
But I don't care,
For out among the hills
There are some "Private" stills
My heart with rapture thrills ?
1 know just where!
Let music swell the breeze
But that will not appease
Thirst like a stein!
Lot moi tal tongues awake.
For there's a way to make
Just uive a word or make
The counteisigu!
Our father's Son made wine,
St. Paul pronounced it tine
For human ills
But solons of today.
Control your lives, so they
Take all our drinks away
And give us frills!
A beautiful woman is beautiful
in some of her moods; a mun is
always a man.
Solid Ivory, says Bill isn't worth
any more than common wood when
it comes to human head8.
First Actress: You say your
brother has an impediment in his
speech and yet he is deaf and
dumb!
Second Actress: Yes. You see,
ho was in an accident and lost two
fingers.
The only way to euro yourself
of love is to run away with the
girl.
An opt mint is a man who hopes
ho gets run over by a doctor's auto.
Birds of a feather knock to
gether.
Some folks have no sense of
humor, and others have a sense cf
bad humor.
What's funnier than a little man
addressed up in a lodge uniform
with a plume hat, and embarrassed!
It is odd how women continue
to sling beauty clay when they
know how little mud has done for
the turtle.
A town woman says her bus
band ought to be named Fact
he's such a stubborn thing.
WHEN Georgia is known to the
world she will be sold to the world.
Thousands of home seekers in the
North are potential settlers in this
country when they know of her
resoorces and possibilities. It is
up to Georgians to"tell the world."

MEMORIAL COINS NOW
BEING DISTRIBUTED
Salo of certificates for Confede
rate Memorial coins, minted by
the Uuitea Stales Government as
a ttibute to the "valor of the
Soldier of the South", is progress
ing rapidly in Perry according to
O.K. Andrew, Cashier of the Perry
Loan & Savings Bank. Actual
coins are now being released to
certificates throughout the Natiou
beginning June 13, 1925. Members
of the U. D. C. and other patriotic
organizations are cooperating in
local distribution.
Reports reaching local bank
officials indicate the greatest in-!
terest in the Memorial ooiu in all
parts of the South. Mississippi is
using the coin to celebrate "Jeffer
sou Davis Week" beginning July
3rd.
In Virginia, Governor Lee!
Trinkle has designated the week (
of June 8th as "Virginia Week," j
during which it is expected a total;
of more than 200,000 coins wil! be
sold.
Tennessee, following the volun
teer tradition established during
the War Between the States, has
through Goveraor Peay, summon
ed 50,000<) workers for 4,Voluuteer
Week," which begins June 8th.
In Georgia, Governor Clifford
Walker has annouueed that he
will award to the firgfc county
reaching its quota of Memorial
eoius the choice of a special car
load of German War trophies taken
in the Argoune, soon to be receiv
ed in Atlanta.
MANNERS IN ROAD SIGHNS
An English countryside flows
by and the motorist comes upon a
quaint village in which, second
only to tho ivy-clad church in
visibility, is a huge sign warning
him to slow down to eight miles
an hour. Nobody does.
How much better is the Yankee
twist of mind that causes us to
put up signs like these:
"Stop, look?and live."
"Look out, you may meet a fool
around the corner.''
"Look before you weep.''
"This Is a good road: it will cost
you money to burn it up."
New Jersey civic pride?and
righteousness ?coins this one: "Go
slow and see our town: go fast and
see our jail."
But our award goes to Peekskill,
New York. On the strategically
placed vacant lot where one looks
for the town's warning we find a
sign which reads; "This is Peek
skill, a Friendly Town," Somehow
te cannot picture ourselves driv
iug recklessly there. And though
we may sometimes smile at the
bluntness of wit of some village
fathers, their messages get home
to us.?Dearborn Independent.
RECENTLY a lady of Good
Thunder Minn., wrote the Perry
school for samples of cotton for
exhibit at a county fair at that
place- She probably heard of
Perry because of its prominence
on theDixie and Nationahighways.
Miss Aureha Cooper sent samples
of cotton. In an interesting letter
to Miss Cooper the Minnesota
lady says that of the hundreds of
people who saw the exhibit only
half a dozen had ever seen cotton
seed and very few had seen of the
quality grown here many of them
thinking it was wool. The masses
in Mibnesota are as ignorant of
Georgia and her agricultural re
sources as we are of Minnessota,
perhaps irore so because the wes
tern state i* better advertised.
SEASONABLE showers of the
past ten days hare greatly heart
ened the fanners of Houstou
Sprouting and steady growth of
tardy cotton and watermelons
have greatly improved crop con
ditions fn this section.
