SOCIETIES TO BU ORGANIZED
The Grady and Lanier literary
societies will be organized at an
early date. All the boys will be in
the Grady and the girls in the
]<aaier. The societies will meet
once a week on Wednesday morn
ing in the auditorium.
SOPHORONIA'S WEDDING UKi HIT
Altlio the rain cut some of the
people out of coining, there was a
bijj crowd who witnessed "So
phronia's Wedding". We couldn't
iinigino our matnis all dressed up
in the oldest of dresses ftnd the
funniest of hats until we actually
saw them. Every boby who cam??
enjoyed it to the fullest. The
chorus was absolutely perfect and
as good as one in a real show.

The girls of the Iligh school
met in the Seuior class room on
Tuesday morning for the' purpose
of organizing the Girl's Athletic
Association. Martha Jordan was

W.-W. ETHRfDGE DEAD
The Death Angel visited the
home of Mrs. Julian Speight,
on Saturday night, Oct, 24th and
took from her her dear father. Mr.
W. W. Ethridge, age 72 yeari?.
He was known and loved by every
body who knew hiun. He was oce
of the oldest members of .Hattie
Baptist church and had been in
declining health for a year and at
last suffered a stroke of paralysis
and lived only a few hours after
the stroke.
His companion preceeded him
to the grave years ago. He leaves
one brother, J. F. Ethridge and
five sons and three daughters. Jim,
Zack. David, Durwood and Ar
thur Ethridge, Mrs. Charlie Har
dy, Mr.-?. Lester Oneil and Mrs.
Julian Speight and a number of
nieces and nephews to mourn his
death.
He was laid forest in the family
lot at Hattie Cemetery, Jiev. A.
L Caldwell conducted the funeral
services. A Niece.

dieted by the Houston County,
grand jury. They elected to he
tried separately and Seals' case
was the first to be called.
Avery was sentenced to serve
twelve months on the chainganu or
to pay a fiue of $400, lollowing his
conviction Tuesday. A motion for
a new Iriai will be heard, on De
cember 5.

of Perry.

term this week, the term coming
to a close Wednesday afternoon.
