PASSES AWAY
Many hearts were shocked and
saddened Sunday morning when
the news that liev. W. H. Lord,
pastor of the Perry 13 a p L i s t
Cuureh, had passed away at his
home early tliat morning. Al
though in ill healfh for several
weeks, his passing was a shock to
his many friends.
During his four years as pastor
of the Baptist Church here, he
endeared himself to many people
by his excelletittraitsof character.
He was a good man in every sense
of the word. Although quiet ami
unassuming in his manner, he was
a very earnest and conscientious
man. He was indeed a Christian
gentleman, and lives such as his
make the world a better place in
which to live and poiut others to
Heaven. His life was a living
sermon.
Now he is enjoying Heavenly
peace and rest; for '' Blessed are
those that die in the Lord.'*
Attesting the high esteem in
which he.was held by his fellow
citizens, Kev. Mr. Lord was elect
ed last year to the ollice of Coun
ty School Superintendent.
The body was taken to Com
merce t-ia. his old home, for funeral
and interment Sunday aftemooi ,
A number of friends accompanied
the body to its lasi. listing pi.ice.
Besides a host of friends here
who mourn his death be leaves
bereaved, a wife and three chil
dren, Mozelle. Delia and W.H. ?lr.
of Perry, his father, of Commerce,
G a. and eleven brothers and sisters.
