PASSES AWAY
The town of Perry lost a valued
citizeu; theehuroh, a loyal servant;
the coramuuiiy, an unfailing
irieud, in the passing of Mrs. Sain
Rogers from our midst last Sun
day morning.
Although Mrs. Rogers has been
in feeble health for a long time,
yet her death came as a shock to
all, aud it is hard to think of life
iu her neighborhood without her
kindly ministries to cheer the
heart and gladdeu the days.
Truly her life was an object
lesson of unselfishness and joyful
service to others. Just "Miss Ida1'
to us all?and yet what a wealth
of meaning those words hold.
Some stranger or sick person
visited almost daily, some flower
or dainty made to express her love,
some sharing of what she had with
others, some remembrance of our
needs when others forgot, unfail
ing intercession at the Heavenly
Throne of Grace?that was "Miss
Ida". No wonder even the chil
dren wanted '"Miss Ida" to know
it, when they were sick.
In her home, what a mother!
Truly one of the group in every
way. yet wonderfully holding all
together by the power of love, and
lifting all higher on a splendid
faith. Childhood memories como
thronging to tell of the daily hour
for family prayer, the cultivation
of the habit of prayer in each
child, then the happy reading
hours when the neighboring chil
dren often eagerly joined her own
for wholesome enjoyment.
Giving herself whole heartedly
to each different aeed of her home
?A real mother,
A devoted follower of her Lord,
always ready for any service in
His name, she has been a religious
leader in our midst for years.
Faithfnl in every obligation to the
ehurch, oven under severe handi
caps, never happier than when
serving there. What a sweet
memory that at our last gathering
on Friday night she was there?
filling her place?entering gladly
into the work of the new year.
May her mantel of love for the
church, fall on younger shoulders,
strong to carry oa, and may the
shining torch of Devotion to Duty
falling from her faithful hands, be
lifted high by others determined
to press, forward in the fight, be
cause of the inspiration of her life.
The funeral took place Tuesday
morning at 10:30 o'clock at the
Methodist Church that she loved
so devdtediy and served so faith
fully. Her pastor, Rev. J. Edwin
Barnliill conducted the service and
paid beautiful tribute to her. In
terment followed at Evergreen
cametery. The numerous floral
offerings attested the love and
esteem in which she was held.
She is survived by her husband
and two aons.Mr.Gordon Rogers,of
Miami. 1< la., Mr. Cater Rogers, of
Perry, and one Daughter, Miss
Nell Roger*, of Rochester, N. V.
Three brothers survive her: Mr.
?John Cater, of West Palm Beach,
Fla., I)>\ Robert Cater Sr.. and
Mr. Frank Cater, both of Perry.

HEAVIEST TOURIST TRAFFIC
PASSES THIS WAY
The following from the Georgia
Highways the official organ of the
State Highway Department shows
without doubt that the heaviest
tourist traffic iu the state passes
through Houstou County over the
Dixie and National Highways con
verging at Perry.
"South of Macon there are 7G8
vehicles moving to Perry where
approximately 600 cars come in on
Route No. 7. This probably causes
more tourist traffic to move
through Perry than any other
town in the State. At Perry the
traffic divides, 857 using 'Route
No. 7 and llf)0 using Route No.
11, When the traffic reaches Ocilla
ou Route No. 11 a portion of it
turns back to Tifton. This causes
the traffic on Route No. 7 to in
crease freui 807 near Cordcle to
1002 south of Adel. The traffic is
then reduced moving from Ocilla
to Alma from 1010 to 774."
From this map it is seen that
two heaviest traveled routes to
Florida are via Cordole and Val
dosta on Route No. 7 and via
Hawkinsville, Ocilla and Way
cross."
These fact make it imperitivo
that the Highways in this county
be paved in order to maintain this
heavy traffic. Great things are in
stare for this County with paved
road*, without them she may lose
some of the advantages she now
enjoys. Houston will take ad
vantage of her great opportunity
by voting the necessary bonds)
when the call is made we aro as
