CUB SCOUTS HAVE
BIG PICNIC HERE
The Cub Scouts and their parents
enjoyed a picnic at Houston Lake
Friday afternoon, April 30.
The Cubs, consisting of four dens, !
were busy during March and April
working on Indian Handicraft and i
making an Indian tepee. An Indian
Village was set up at the picnic/
grounds and the handiwork was on
display for the visitors.
Den Two won the prize for the
best tepee. Mrs. Jack ,MiHer is Den
Mother and Phillip Sutton is the
Den Chief. Members of Den Two are
Pearce Brown, Tom Webb, Donnie
Lamar. Ben Hamlin, Charlie Har
per and William Harrison.
During the afternoon, swimming
and games were enjoyed and a pic
nic sapper was served. Approxi
mately 100 attended the picnic.
Perry Cub Pack No. 9(5 is under
the leadership of Horace E. Evans,
Cubmaster.
Miss Jackson: “Where is Cleve
land?”

field Methodist Church, May 15 at

The bride-elect’s mother is the
former Miss Mattie Chapman,
daughter of Thomas S. Chapman
and the late Mrs. Chapman of Perry.
Her three aunts, Mrs. Cora Chap
man Boterweg of Oakland, Calif.,
formerly of Macon, Mrs. George
Johnston of Sasser, Ga., and Mrs.
Joe Mitchell of Perry, will attend
the vyedding.
Miss AUen attended Georgia State
W. man’s College in Valdosta and
Howard College in Birmingham.
Mr. Gillespie attended Ohio Uni
versity and Birmingham-Southern
College.

Style Review
The Perry Home Demonstration
Club met Thursday, April 29, at the
home of Mrs. Tommie Hunt with
Mrs. E. W. Traylor as co-hostess.
Mrs. Clifford Grimes, first vice
president, presided in the absence
of the president. Mrs. Felix Daniel
led the devotional. Minutes of the
last meeting were read and ap
, proved, and roll was called.
Mrs. Dora Clifford, demonstration
agent, announced that the county
style review will be held May 28.
A representative for the state meet
' will be chosen then. The person
chosen will be given the trip to Ath
ens to compete in the state contest.
Each club is asked to choose two
members to participate in the coun
ty style review. Club members
agreed to each make a dress and
wear it at, the May meeting. A judge
will be present to select the two to
participate in the county review.
Mrs. Clifford asked if members
felt the need pf a canning school
this spring. Everyone agreed trtat
she did. This event will be soon
and include all who are interested/
The demonstration at this meet
ing was on flower arrangements.
Mrs. Clifford stressed the impor
tance of taking a container of water
with you when you went to cut
flowers. They will last 'much longer
if put in water directly after they
are cut. Several lovely arrange
ments were worked out by Mrs
Clifford.
Delicious sandwiches and coca-
: cola were served by the hostesses
| before the meeting adjourned.

Judge C. E. Brunson
Back at His Office
Judge C. E. Brunson, clerk of the
Houston county commissioners who
was injured when struck by an
automobile two weeks ago, has im
proved and returned to his office’
Monday.
The judge’s friends are glad to
learn that he is able to be back on
