Girl Seoul (amp
Open to All Girls
Do you know the summer re
sources of your area? Do you
know that all girls who have
completed the 4th grade on
through high school whether Girl
Scouts or not, are eligible to
share the fun of established
camping at Camp Martha John
ston, the Middle Georgia Girl
Scout Camp located at Lizella,
Ga?
For each of four two-week
sessions each summer, girls ex
pand their horizons through na
ture study, crafts, swimming,
canoeing, folk dancing, cook
outs, campfires, skits, and other
activities dear to girls of these
ages. The activities are geared
to the age and experience of the
girls. For the younger girls, who
are thrilled just to be living in
the out-of-doors away from home,
often for the first time, most o(
the activities take place in the
camp itself.
The older girls demand more
adventure and get it. The first
session, just completed taught
Life Saving. The second session
now in progress will enable the
girls to perfect their skills and
demonstrate their resourceful
ness, as they setup and live at
a primitive camp at a nearby
private lake.
During the 3rd session (July
14 through 27) qualified older
girls will go on a four day Canoe
Run down the Flint River. Then
during the final session (July
28 through Aug. 19), these girls
will go on'a trail trip in the
Appalachian Mountains.
Isn’t it amazing that in this
day of inflation, so much whole
some fun and adventure can be
obtained for the small fee of
*4O for two weeks for Scouts
and *44 for non-scouts? If you
know of girls who would benefit
from such a camping experience
this summer, encourage them to
apply for the 3rd and 4th ses
sions. All they have to do to re
serve a place is to send a *5 de
posit with their name, address,
telephone number, age and grade
completed to the Girl Scout Cen
ter, 262 Riley Avenue, Macon,
Georgia 31204.
