Tom Murphy has been
named the new Superintend
ent of the Southern District
of the Houston County Re
ceation Dept., and will be
working out of an office in
the basement of the court
house in Perry.
Murphy will work primari
ly with residents of Perry,
Henderson, Elko, Grovania,
Kathleen, Hayneville, Sand
bed, and other small com
munities in the south end
of the county to handle any
recreation problems and to
promote recreational activi
ties in each area.
He suggests that anyone
interested in recreation come
in and discuss their needs
and suggestions with him,

gion held recently. Mr. Nunn

Legion School Awards went
to Kay Voseipka, daughter
of Lt. Col. and Mrs. George

Gerald Hilton. Mr. and Mrs.
Hershell Thompson were
special guests of the Post.
Mr. Thompson is principal
of the Perry Grammar
School.
Mr. Bill Nall, Chairman of
the Boy’s State Committee
announced that five boys
from the Perry High School
attended Boy’s State recent-

Vanity Shop Is Sold
Mr. and Mrs. Vince Su
grue, who live between Cen
terville and Warner Robins,
have just become the new
owners of The Vanity Shop
in the Village Square Shop
ping Center in Perry. The
store will be closed Monday,
but will be opened under
their ownership on Tuesday.
Mr. Sugrue is a native of
Houston County and a grad
uate of Warner Robins High
School and the University of
Georgia, and is currently in
the Air Force Reserve. He
is owner and operator of the
Hofbrau Restaurant on North
Davis Drive in Warner Rob
ins.
Mrs. Sugrue, who will be
operating The Vanity Shop,
is the former Margie Lanier

Flag Program
The Vesta Club met June
17 at the home of Mrs. A. E.
Harris. Mrs. Merrill Brockie
presided and Mrs. J. H. Bee
land gave the devotion.
Mrs. Clarence Davis read
an interesting essay on the
American Flag that was writ
ten by Mrs. James Meadows,
and the members discussed
voting.
Delicious refreshments
were served by Mrs. Harris
and Mrs. Carl Barrett.

ing being to present to me citizens of Perry a new
city ordinance to be known as “The Comprenensive
Land Development Ordinance tor the City of Per
ry, Georg.a’, said ordinance establishing zoning
districts and regulating the uses of lanu in tbe
city: specifying off-street parking and loading re
quirements; auopting general zoning regulations;
adopting a map tor me purpose ot indicating land
districts; describing zoning ruies ana regulations
in said district; deiimng said districts; providing
lor re-zonmg and re-dismcting; estabiismng cert
ain building and zoning regulations in each of said
districts; regulating land uses and accessory uses;
prescribing the percentage 01 ianu area wbicn may
be occupied unuer varying circumstances; provid
ing for variances and noncomorming uses; estab
lisning a board ox zoning appeals; providing for
the regulation ox subdivision ox land; adopting gen
eral subdivision regulations; denning certain of
the terms used in tne ordinance; providing a metn
