loan Rates For
Crops Set By
Dept of Agri.
With the announcement of
the county price-support loan
rate of $2.26 per bushel for
1970-crop soybeans,- F.W.
Langston, Chairman of the
Houston County Agricultural
Stabilization and Conservation
(ASC) Committee, said county
loan rates have now been
announced for wheat, barley,
oats, rye, grain sorghum, and
soybeans.
For each of these crops,
except oats and soybeans,
which are not terminally
oriented, the U.S. Department
of Agriculture this year
modernized the method of
establishing county loan rates
in response to changing con
ditions in marketing, transport
ation and international trade.
However, in the major produc
ing areas of these crops, very
little change has been made
in the 1970-crop loan rates.
All county loan rates are based
on the national average price
support loan rate.
For Georgian the 1970-crop
rates other than soybeans are:
Wheat $1.29
Barley .87
Rye 1.20
Oats .74
Grain Sorghum 1.67
“Announcement is expected
in the near future of county
price-support loan and purchase
rates for corn, “Mr. Langston
said. As in the case of oats
and soybeans, no change is to
be made in the method of
determining county rates for
this crop.
