The nutiber of patients
having to be admitted to
Central State Hospital has
been reduced by use of these

A Negro delegation includ
ing Silas Smith, Oscar Thomie,
Connie Jones, Luther Vance,
John Hooks, W. F. Ragan, and
Rev. Robert Evans requested
that restrooms be furnished
for the Houston Recreation
Center in Perry. The Swimming
pool there, which was financed
by the City of Perry, the
county and a private Negro
group, has no restrooms or
bathhouses and the Negroes
said that their funds have teen
exhausted.
County Commissioners
agreed to contract for portable
restrooms for the center.
Commission Chairman Alton
Tucker said the county could
not build restrooms and bath
houses because federal part
icipation in the project hud
fallen $12,000 short of expect
ations.
The Negroes also requested
that the commissioners hire
some black officers for tho
county police force and some
black guards at the prison
camp. Warden Allen Stone said
that he told Negro leaders

no applications from them.
Mrs. Joyce B. Griffin, tax
commissioner, was asked by
the county commissioners to
again request Sheriff Albert
Hudson to help collect hack

some dating back to 1962.
Mayor Homer J. Walker of
Warner Robins asked that the
county’s water rates in newly
annexed Randall Heights in
Warner Robins be reduced as
the residents there pay about
three times the amount other
residents pay. County Attorney
Walker Burke said that he
would check into the legal
sit'eition concerning this
matter, since the county water
system is in financial trouble.
State Rep. Sam A. Nunn Jr.
was asked by the commissioners
to draw up legislation to
eliminate the appeal board to
settle financial differences
between county commissioners
