Cubs Rally To Beat Darts 3 To 2
In a tight game where
Perry’s ‘‘B" League Cubs
were tied with the Bonaire
Darts 1-1 after the regulation
six innings the Darts tallied
a run <n the top of the 7th.
The Cuts countered with 2
runs in the bottom of the
frame to win 3 to 2. Both
starters were tough as Cub
Ed Porter fanned 13,
walked 2 and gave 3 hits.
Dart hurler, Charles Can
nion, fanned 14, walked 1,
gave 4 hits. Relievers in the
7th were David Thompson
who got the win as he gave
one hit, 2 walks, and a strike
out.
Dart loser was David
Swain who only gave one hit -
the game winning homer to
Randy Lumpkin. Lumpkin
was the Cub leader with 3
hits, two of them doubles, 3
RBl’s and a stolen base. Ed
Porter hit a triple and Tom
Stokes a single for the Cubs.
The Cubs finished 1972 with a
13-2 record -a great job -as
they only lost two games by a
single run each time. Cub
batters were Tim Albritton,
Jim Merritt, Kenny Payne,
John Adams, Scott West
moreland, Greg Shellnut,
Steve Labadie, Jeff Allen
and Calvin Ross.
Tigers Roll
Perry “B" Tigers won 15
to 9 over the Warner Robins
Redlegs and finished the

hits. Debro Hill and Danny
Bush had 2 hits each. Doug

had a Perry hit.

Panthers Win
Perry’s “B” Panthers
rolled over the Centerville
Lions 16 to 4 behind the
combined one hit pitching of
Maurice Marshall and
Cedric Little. Leading the
Panthers were Sherman
Askew and Marshall with 3
hits each. Cedric Little and
l/onnie Askew had 2 hits
each.
Tigers 11-7
The Perry Tigers ripped
the Warner Robins Sabres 11
to 7 in a Jr. league game.
Perryan Maurice Daniel was
coasting on a no-hitter for 4
innings. He only gave 4 hits
in the game. The Perry
Tigers are a hustling club
and they are aggressive. The
Tigers only lost 2 so far in
72. James Hillson had a hot
bat as he led Perry with 4
hits.

each for Perry. Milton
Walker, Keith Hudson,
Ricky Allen and Robert
Soloman each had a hit.

Orioles Win
The Jr. League Orioles
failed to show up for a game
in Warner Robins against the
Perry Demons. As a result it
was a forfeit victory in favor
of Perry.
Tigers 12-4
Perry’s Jr. league Tigers
took a 12 to 4 win over the
Warner Robins Pirates.
Derrick Soloman spun a
nifty 3 hitter. Crashing Tiger
homers for Perry were
Milton Walker, Maurice
Daniel and Derrick Soloman.
Derrick Soloman led the
Tiger offense with 3 hits.
James Hillson and Milton
Walker had 2 hits each.
Maurice Daniel, Keith
Hudson, Ricky Allen and
Keevin Griffin each had a
hit. Perry batters were
Robert Soloman, Steve
Mitchell and Jeff Thomas.
Peny 7-0
Derrick Soloman twirled a
sharp one hitter firing his Jr.
League Perry team to a 7 to 0
win over the Warner Robins
Comets. His no-hitter lasted
until the sth when a pinch
hitter singled. Soloman
fanned 10 in the shortened 5
inning game. Milton Walker
paced the Tiger offense with

Al Vuxta put it all together
this week in the Perry
Country Club dog fight for a
fine score of 68 and +ll
points. This is the lowest
score Al has ever had and
one of the best scores turned
in this year at the Club. His
team of Jack Smith 111 and
Frank Habitzruther also
won the team event with a
+l7. Second place team was
Olin Taylor, Stan Booney
and again Jack Smith 111 (he
also played Sunday) with a

We want to say a big thank
you to the parents for their
cooperation in the lunch
program. We hope you
continue to have your
children come out.
Besides having lunch, the
children enjoy Arts and
Crafts on Wednesdays at the
Houston High Gym and
Thursdays at the Recreation
Center. They also enjoy
horse shoe, table tennis,
volleyball, basketball
(Houston Gym), badmitton,
softball, scoopball, croquet
and a host of table games.

Wildcats Lose
The Warner Robins Sr.
girls won a softball game
over Perry’s Wildcats by a 5
to 2 score. It was a well
played game with Perry
getting 5 hits while the
Rebels had 6 hits. Georgia
Ragin took the loss for
Perry. Yvone Lawson
crashed a two run homer for
both Perry runs. Perry
batters were Celestine
McGhee, Vanna Lumpkin,
Gwendolyn Rawls, Delphine

Dozens trounced the Perry
Sr. Wildcats in a Sr. League
girls softball game.
Celestine McGhee led Perry
with 2 for 3. Players for

Rawls. Georgia Ragin,
Delphine Williams, Linda
Scott, Cynthia McGhee,
Priscilla Thomas, Shirley

A record breaking state
pro-am was also held at the
club Friday with 139
amateurs andd 19 pros from
all over the state par
ticipating. Professional
Charlie Sorrell and his
amateur partner Ernie
Barbour from Tara C. C. in
Jonesboro took first place.
Ed Causey and Bill Kingly
from Robins Air Force base
finished second.
This Saturday, July 29, a
covered dish supper will be
held at 7:00 and will be
followed by a bingo at 8:00.

the jackpot.
Cougars 5-0
The Warner Robins
Cougars won 5 to 0 over the
Perry Cougars in a Sr.
League game. The two
teams managed 5 hits each
but when the dust settled the
Braves were on the long end
of the score. Pacing the
Perry batters were Joe
Andrews with 2 for 2,
followed by Earl Brown,
Wayne Roberts and Alfonso
Soloman with a hit apiece.
Perry also sent Jam Ash,
Larry Bonner, Mo Wright,
Doug Rembisz, and David
Thomas to the plate.

Presently, the A’s enjoy a 13-
5 record with approximately
eight games left. Please
come out and support your
local team.
All persons who would like
to learn to swim can sign up
at the Recreation Center.
The classes are free. This
class will continue until the
pool closes for the winter. No
more than twenty students
will be in a class. The next
class will start July 25, 1972.
No one will be permitted
after this date. Another class
will start July 31. The

At the Houston Gym on
Wednesday, July 19, Perry
was defeated by Fort Valley.
On Monday, July 24, a
volleyball game was
scheduled between Perry
and Fort Valley. You can
still sign up for these games
at the Recreation Center and
the Houston Gym. Also, you
can sign up for the table
tennis tournament at the
Recreation Center or the
Houston Gym.
The Adult Training Unit
will hold their meeting
Thursday evening at 7:00.
The meeting will be held at
the Recreation Center.

Eagles 27-26
In a close, thrilling T
league game of girls softball
the Perry Eagles beat the
Centerville Demons 27-26.
The hits were about even as
the Demons had 36 to Perry’s
35. Players for Perry were

Veronda Griffin, Pamela
Walker, Joni Hickey,
Rowena Felder, Regina
Jackson, Clarissa Woodard,
Ruby Lane, Sharon Nobles,

a fine team and have only
lost one game this year.
Astros Lose
Lynn Davidson crashed 3
homers and Tina Steffanini
one homer in leading their
girls softball “B” team to a
22 to 7 rout over the Perry
Astros. Yetaria Lumpkin led
Perry with 2 for 3. Sandra
Cherry, Bessie Jackson,
Letitia Ragin, Terri Dixon,
Angela Askew and Diedra
Radford each had an Astro
hit. Other Perry players

4 over the Warner Robins
Angels. Perry hurler Yeteria

support. Perry, down 4-3 at

tying and winning runs in

six hits vs. 16 for the Devils.

Perry Pantherettes 19 to 11
in a girls softball game.
Perry outhit the Braves 18 to
14. Debra Lumpkin took the
loss for Perry. Debra led the
Pantherettes with 3 for 4
including a homer. The
Braves broke open a close
game with an 8 run sixth.

The Warner Robins
Braves downed the
Perry Bearcats in a Jr.
League game by 10 to 7.
Vivian Askew was the losing
pitcher and allowed 10 hits.
Naomi Dominy gave up 13
hits to Perry but was the
winning pitcher. Perry
scored all their runs in the
3rd. Barbara Kendrick led
the Bearcats with 2 for 2.
