Auto Accidents Continue
To Plague State Patrol
An accident 1.7 miles north
of Ferry on 1-75 Sunday
August 13 resulted in the
arrest of one driver for
failure to grant right of way
after investigation by Tpr.
R. I. Hardin of Post 15 of the
Georgia State Patrol in
Perry.
Involved were a 1971
Volkswagen bus operated by
Ray Otto Hammons, Jr., 1203
In 1930 a new sports roadster cost $555,
and a kilowatt-hour cost 5.7 cents. Now
the electricity costs 1.8 cents.' Doesn’t
leave much room for a rumble, does it?

Lake Drive, Tifton, and a
1967 Chevrolet operated by
Galen Lee Noll, 311
Woodland Drive, Warner
Robins. Both were traveling
south on 1-75. Noll stated he
started to pass Hammons
when Hammons cut to the
left to pass an unknown
vehicle and hit Noll’s vehicle
in the right quarter panel.
Hammons, who was charged
with failure to grant right of
way, said he did not see the
other vehicle coming around
him.
On Aug. 12, Tpr. J. L.
Lancaster investigated an
accident .7 mile west of
Warner Robins on the Ga.
247 Connector near Brady
Drive. A 1972 Vega operated
by Thomas C. Garwood, P.O.
Box 324, Fort Valley, and a
1970 Dodge operated by
Dorothy Louise Pilch, 218
Evergreen Street, Warner
Robins, were both traveling
west on the Ga. 247 Con
nector when Garwood
stopped in the right traffic
lane waiting for an unknown
vehicle to make a left turn
onto Brady Drive. Pilch
applied brakes, skidded
approximately 68 feet and
struck the Garwood vehicle
in the rear. No charges were
made.
Also on August 12, Tpr. C.
W. Sheffield investigated a
one-car accident that
resulted from the driver’s
reaching into the back seat
of the car. The 1969 Opel
driven by Archie Marion
Winkler, Route 3,
Hawkinsville, ran off the
right side of the road, then
went back across the road
and overturned in the left
ditch. No charges were
made.
On Aug. 11, Cpl. W. D.
Blackstock investigated an
accident 7.1 miles south of
Perry on Ga. 26 near the 1-75
ramp. Involved were a 1972
Pontiac driven by Audry
larrimore, 1907 New Mexico
St., Savannah, Ga. and a 1972
Pontiac driven by William
Douglas Ellis, 2837 Eastwood
Drive, Decatur, Ga.
Larrimore was traveling
west on Ga. 26 and Ellis
south on the 1-75 ramp at
tempting to make a left turn
on 26. Ellis stopped at a stop
sign, then pulled into the
path of Larrimore, who
skidded and collided with
Ellis.
Audry Larrimore was
treated for injuries to the left
arm at Perry-Houston
County Hospital. Ellis was
charged with failure to yield
right of way.
On August 10 Tpr. W. E.
Cawthon investigated an
accident 1.7 miles west of
Warner Robins on
Knodishall Drive at Mauk
Circle. John Randall George
111, 151 Evergreen Street,
Warner Robins, was
traveling south on
Knodishall when Kathleen
Hagler Pike. 117 Flournoy
Drive, Warner Robins,
pulled into his path in a 1972
Pontiac, causing an ac
cident. No charges were
made.
Two vehicles traveling
east on Ga. 96 were involved
in an accident 7.2 miles south
of Perry Aug. 9. Tpr. G. F.
Boutwell investigated the
accident involving a 1964
Chevrolet driven by James
M. Farley, 34 Brenner
Street, Dayton, Ohio, and a
1969 International truck
driven by William R.
Breedlove, P.O. Box 211,
Helen, Ga. Records show
that Breedlove was passing
Farley, when Farley started
to make a left turn into the
path of the Breedlove
vehicle, causing Breedlove’s
truck to strike the Chevrolet
in the left side. No charges
were made.
Tpr. W. I. Blount in
vestigated an accident Aug.
6 on 1-75 at the Ga. 127
overpass involving a 1969
Ford station wagon driven
by Robert Allen Bell, 1533
Circlefield Drive, Cincinnati,
Ohio, and a 1970 Chevrolet
driven by Carlton Wayne
Jones, Box 48, Hillsboro,
Georgia. Both vehilces were
traveling south on 1-75. Bell
said he did not see Jones
before pulling out to pass an
unknown vehicle. Jones
stated he left the road to
avoid impact and hit a
bridge post. No charges were
made.
A rear-end collision 8.8
miles north of Perry on 1-75
Perry Shrine
Club Holds
Aug. Meeting
The monthly meeting of
the Perry Shrine Club was
held at the Perry Country
Club, Wed. Evening, Aug.
9th. The meeting was opened
by President Al Wilson. The
invocation was given by
President Wilson.
The minutes of the
previous meeting and
Treasurers Report was read
and approved by the Club.
The Secretary announced
that two new Nobles were
added to the Club Roster.
Noble Larry Floyd of Macon
and Noble Richard Goodroe
of Perry.
Noble H. H. Hackworth
told the Club that he has
received permission from
the officials of Warner
Robins to have the Fund
Raising Project at the Mall
for the entire day of Aug.
19th. President Wilson then
urged all members to par
ticipate in selling tickets for
our new 1972 car to be given
away.
At this time President
Wilson introduced the
Recorder of Al Sihah
Temple, Noble A. B. Minor,
who gave a talk on the recent
Imperial Convention held in
Dallas, Texas. Recorder
Minor then introduced the
Divan members Jack
Cherrington and Harry
McCorkle. They both gave
fine speeches on Shrindom
and coming events at the
Temple.
President Wilson told the
Club that the next meeting
will be observed as Ladies
Night to be held Thursday
Evening Sept. 14 at 7:30 P.M.
at the Perry Country Club.
The meeting was closed
with prayer by President
Wilson at 9:30 P.M. with 30
Nobles in attendance.

join the Perry Shrine Club,
