mitage will seek to be
renamed to the office he has
held since 1967. Byrd is
seeking reinstatement to his
Post 2 Commission spot won
earlier this year in a runoff
with Bob Lee Smith
Paul C. Armitage was born
in Buffalo, New York, and
graduated from Bowling
Green University with a B.S.

Armitage family lives in
Perry on Tucker Road.
Steve Byrd will offer
himself again for his County
Commission post. Byrd won a
runoff some months ago with
Bob Lee Smith to fill the
vacant county commission
post left unfilled by the death
of Byrd’s father, Robert Byrd.
Steve Byrd is 29, and a
native of Houston County. He
graduated from Warner
Robins High School in 1962,
Middle Georgia College in
1964, and from Georgia
Southern College in 1966.
In 1966 he took over
ownership of Byrd’s Septic
Tank Company, which he still
owns. The business now in
cludes redi-mix concrete
sales. Byrd is developing a
mobile home subdivision,
"Somerset”, north of Cen
terville.
Byrd is a member of the
Warner Robins Chamber of
Commerce, a charter member
of the Warner Robins Ex
change Club, and a member of
the Warner Robins Home
Builders Association. He is

Howard
Forrest Glynn Howard, age
70, of the Crossroads Travel
Pk , Perry, died Sunday, June
2, while visiting in Chillicothe,
Ohio. Services were held
Wednesday, June 5, at
Willmington, Ohio, and in
terment followed in the
Willmington Cemetery.
Mr. Howard ws a retired
mechanic having lived in
Perry the past three years and
was a member of the Perry
Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his
widow, Mrs. F.G. Howard of
Perry, 3 sons, Bobby Howard
of Perry, Richard Howard of
Lexington, Ky., Jack Howard
of West Palm Beach, Fla., and
10 grandchildren.
Willett
Services for Mrs. Betty
Burgess Willett, 50, who died
Thursday in Chicago, 111.,
were held at 2 P.M. Saturday
in the First Baptist Church of
Perry. Dr. Julian T. Pipkin
officiated. Burial was in the
Perry Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Willett was a native of
Oklahoma, had lived in Texas
a number of years, and the
past four years in Richmond,
Va. She was an elementary
education director at the First
Baptist Church of Richmond,
Va., a graduate of Mercer
University receiving her
masters degree from the
University of Georgia. She
was the first Minister of Music
of the First Baptist Church of
Perry.
