it cleared the fence. Later in
the game the Rocket LF told
his coach, who told the ump,
the ball did go over the fence

ump was speechless! Bobby
Brown atoned for the umps
poor vision by blasting a deep

scored Turner. In the 7th the
Panthers iced the game as
Turner slashed a wicked

4-2 Win
“Broadway" Joe Andrews
flung a nifty 3-hitter as the
Richardson Realty Co. Sr.
Panthers of Perry took a 4-2
win over the Flyers. This was
win number two for Perry.
Leading off the game Jaru
Ash muscled up on a ball by
smashing a home run on the
first pitch in the first. That
unnerved the Flyers so they
went on to lake a 3-tl lead in the
opening inning. In the game
Milton “Smash” Walker, Jess
Wright and Dennis Little
scored, the latter on a
"Broadway" Joe sacrifice fly.
Ash and Mark Bramlett each
lashed a double in the game.
On defense Panther 3d
sacker Wright stood out for his
line, charging play on several
bunts. Young David Ridley
turned in a lop defensive game
at catcher. Robert Noble,
Kevin Smith and James
Stokeling turned in a good
game for the Panthers.
Andrews’ amazing arm was
in evidence as he fanned 10 of
the first 12 outs. Andrews let
the defense work in the sth
then he fanned two each in the
6th and 7th.
bay. Several Astros hit the
ball hard but right at an
Eagle.
Astro runs were hard to
come by. In the first Raynard
Mickels led with a soft single,
Whitt Smith walked, then
Bramlett and Scuddcr again.
The Panthers took a quick 1-
0 lead in the first as their
super player, Marvin Noble,
belted a homer to left. Noble
was 2 for 3 on the day, played
an outstanding game at
catcher with two eyepopping
grabs, several fine stops and a
lot of hustle.
The Cubs scored 4 in the
first due to walks and wild
pitches. The Panthers made it
4-3 in the 2d, the Cubs led 7-3
after two. The Panthers
rallied to within a run at 7-6.
Midway the score was Cubs in
front 10-6 and after five it was
Cubs by 12-8.
The Panthers Scudder had
an RBI hit, Garnett Singleton
drove in a run. Gary Bramlett
belted a long RBI triple and
pitched well. Noble and
Singleton scored 3 runs each.
Scudder scored twice with
John Alford and Greg Hardy
scoring once. William Alford
had a hit. Tom Tramel, Greg
Simmons and Keith Smith
played well.
Tiny Zack Sorrows, one of
the smallest B leaguers
around, was a giant sparkplug
for the Cubs as he went 2 for 3
with a double and triple. He
scored 4 runs, had an RBI,
stole bases, ran with abandon
and made some nice defensive
plays at 3d. Mike Harding
went 1-1 a double, walked 3
times for a perfect day and
scored once. Willie Walker
blasted a long solo homer to
open the Cub 2d. Jim Fudge
caught well, scored 3 times
and hit the ball hard all day.
Harvey fanned 9 batters in the
4 innings he pitched. Danny
Banks, Sebastian Lumpkin.

Hammock and Duncan took

chased him back to third and
just when the Eagles felt they

home sliding under the tag as
he showed great baserunning.

With one out Smith lashed a

on an Eagle mental error as

came on in relief and got the
side out with two strikeouts.
Defensively, Catcher R.

pulled a gem with a backup of
an errant throw to 2B from CF
then gunned down an over
