Youth Week will feature
"Salt" a group from Oral
Roberts University in
Tulsa, Oklahoma.
In a world where life is
empty and meaningless,
and where even the
Christian walk has a
tendency to become
routine and uneventful,
Christ has commissioned
His followers to be the
seasoning for men's lives.
Desiring to fulfill this task
through music, David
Duewel, in the latter part
ot 1975, organized such a
ministry. Excited about
the possibilities of such an
outreach, the eight young
people involved have taken
up this Commission and
call themselves "Salt."
While all are students at
Oral Roberts University,
each of the eight group
members represent a
different city and all come
from varied backgrounds.
Brian Boehler sings
tenor in the group and is
from Denver, Colorado, He
included in the lease
terms, with an option to
buy after a year.
In other activity, the
commissioners opened
sealed bids for four surplus
sheriff's patrol cars. All
reportedly were "wrecks"
in various stages of need of
repair. Os seven bidders,
three of the four autos
were sold to a county
employee, Arnold Sutton,
who works at the landfill.
The commissioners
accepted high bids on all
four cars, one of which
went for a mere $56.50 (to
D.A. Williamson). Sutton
spent: $711.11, $811.13, and
$735 19 for the three cars
he purchased by bid.
Purchasing Agent Roach
stressed that the bidding
was by sealed bids, and
prior to opening asked the
board if a county employee
could bid. After they saw
nothing wrong with it, the
bids were opened.
