If the price of movies
continues to increase, I
will be reduced to waiting
for them to come on TV.
The last time I went to
Macon to see a movie the
price was $3 00 per ticket.
This is possibly a valid
price tor a big movie like
"Jaws" or "All The
President's Men" but not
for "Ode To Billy Joe" or
something similar. Yet the
crowds still flock to see
them and the people don't
seem to mind the prices.
"Variety" reported that
May was a booming month
for the movie industry.
I saw two movies last
week that were good en
tertalnment. They were
both rated PG and they
both concerned the lives of
people over thirty. Now

Health Service Agency
Another Federal Power
The first contacts ot the
Houston County Hospital
Complex with the recently
formed regional Health
Service Agency (HSA) a
few days ago has given the
two local hospitals some
indication ot the tederal
agency's power.
Mrs. Eleanor Granum of
Warner Robins, a member
of the Houston Hospital
Authority, is also a
member of the board of
directors of the Middle
Georgia region HSA (as
are several other county
residents) Recently Mrs.
Granum contacted the
state HSA offices.
Tom Lang of the Health
Service Agency office in
Atlanta came to Warner
Robins for a visit, and a
main reason was to
determine If a need exists,
in the HSA's opinion, for
the Warner Robins
Hospital to expand its lab
facilities
Lang told Mrs. Granum
that the need does exist,
and said his agency would
look favorably upon ex
panslon of the lab. "In tact
he said federal money may
be available where the
need has been
established," Mrs.

ROBIN AND MARIAN:
This movie has been in
release for about four
months but I missed it on
its initial showings. In
truth, finding out what
happened to Robin Hood
and Maid Marian In their
later life really didn't
appeal to me. Yet I knew
that any movie that could
lure Audrey Hepburn out
of retirement had to have
some entertainment value.
It does
Once you become ac
customed to England being
depicted as it really was
squalid you can move on
to enjoying the plot. The
love story between Robin
Hood (Sean Connery) and
Marian (Audrey Hepburn)
is tender, comic and
Granum added.
The Health Service
Agencies were created by
a law passed by Congress
two years ago, Public Law
93 641. Its full name Is the
National Health Planning
and Resources Develop
ment Act of 1974. It
provides for a national
system ot HSA's in areas in
each state, approved by
Secretary of Health,
Education and Welfare
Caspar Weinberger.
The area Including
Houston County generally
consists ot the cities of
Macon, Columbus, and
areas in between.
Geographically, the 722,300
population region spans
from Putnam County to
Montgomery County to
Phenix City, Alabama.
Public Law 93 641 was
designed, in part, to
replace the Hill Burton
Act, under which most
hospitals (including Perry
Hospital) received funds
tor construction. Most ot
the same regulations, in
regard to patient care, will
continue to be upheld
Mrs. Granum said that
any federal grants will be
available after July 1, 1977
and added that the HSA's
tragic. Some of the lines
are hilarious and make you
care about these people,
not as characters in a
myth, but as real living
breathing beings. Just as
some scenes are funny,
others are touchingly
tender and no one can
weave a sad mood like
Audrey.
This is Sean Connery's
best movie since he left the
role of James Bond behind
him Here he is perfectly
cast as the aging Robin
who doesn't quite un
derstand why he isn't the
man that he used to be.
Audrey Hepburn is the
most beautiful skinny
woman alive in the world
today. Painfully frail, but
radiantly alive, her

Authority Chairman
Beckham asked Mrs.
Granum if hospital ex
panslon plans are "to be
funneled through them
(the HSA)", to which she
replied, "Yes, they'll act
as a consultant."
She cautioned that the
Authority can proceed with
any renovation or ex
pansion "up to $100,000"
without further HSA
direction, but "if the result
is not up to their
specifications, they could
refuse to let us have

Beckham responded,

If you get a chance, go
see this movie. It is sur
prislngly good.
LIFEGUARD: If you
thought that this was
another Annette Fun
nlcello- Frankie Avalon
beach party flick, guess
again. This is a PG rated
(should have been R) story
of an overgrown overage
lifeguard and his attempts
to leave the good life and
settle down, spelled c-o n-f
o-r m.
Sam Elliot is "every
girls' summer dream" in
the title role and this movie
should propel him into
bigger and better roles. He
makes the title character
shallow but sympathetic
by turning in a good acting
job. He is also physically
perfect for the role.
Anne Archer Is also first
rate as "Cathy" the
lifeguard's high school
sweetheart. He meets her
again at their fifteen year
class reunion and of course
they pick up their lives just
like those fifteen years
never happened.
Forget the ad campaign
for this movie. There is a
lot more depth here than
those ads show. Also forget
that PG rating. There is a
lot of nudity and the
language is pretty blunt. It
is a movie with a mature
theme for mature viewer's.
working with them.”
Earlier in last Wed
nesday night's Authority
meeting, held in Perry, the
board heard Warner
Robins pathologist Dr.
James Whitaker and
Complex Executive
Director Charles Hall give
an update on the Warner
Robins Hospital lab
planning. Hall, Whitaker,
and two others went to
Roberta to view the Butler
Buildings a few days ago.
A letter was sent to the
state fire marshal con
cerning the Butler
Buildings to see if any
alterations would be
necessary if the Authority
chooses to purchase a
building to house the new
lab in Warner Robins. Hall
added after the meeting
that no decision has been
made on how to expand the
lab in Warner Robins, and
said, "We're just exploring
all possibilities.”
