HOUSTON HOME JOURNAL THURS., JULY 1, IW,
Six Miles Os Wire Taken
Flint EMC Offers
Reward For Thieves
Since June 2, wire thieves have stolen over six
miles of wire from Flint Electric Membership
Corporation power lines in this area. The cost to
replace this wire will amount to several thousand
dollars.
The Sheriff’s Departments in Houston and
Peach Counties are cooperating with the Flint
Electric people in an effort to apprehend the wire
thieves. Operators of CB radios have also agreed
to assist. Persons living in the rural areas of
Houston and Peach Counties are also on the
lookout for the thieves.
It is not known if the wire thieves are working at
night or during the daytime, or both.
Flint Electric’s vehicles are painted white with
Flint’s name on the doors. Anyone apparently
working on the power lines without a Flint vehicle
• nearby would be a suspect. The service personnel

Other things to look for would be a coil of wire
lying along the side of the road, a wire lying
across the road, a wire lying along the side of the
road. Another indication would be that the bottom
wire on the power line appeared to be broken and
hanging down from the pole. A passenger car with
a heavy load in the trunk with license plates from
another county would be a good clue.
From the above information, if anyone suspects
that wire thieves are at work stealing wire from
the power lines, please report it to the Sheriff’s
Department in the county.

said last Friday that the
office was expanded by
1,600 square feet. The base
structure was 2,200 square
teet, giving the total office
footage now of 3,800 square

The expansion provides
new bookkeeping, office,
and storage space.
General contractor was
Perryan Al Lischer's
Royal Contractors.
Franklin said the P.C.A.
of Central Georgia opened
its home offices here in
1967, and prior to that time
operated a branch office in
Perry. Before the move to
Perry of its home office,
that facility was located in
Macon.
