announcement was made
by The Bank of Perry
President Lewis Meeks.
Mrs. Norris will retain
her responsibilities as
Operations Officer and
Personnel Director of
The Bank.
She originally came to
The Bank of Perry in
September of 1973 from a
bank in Sandersville. Her
initial position was as
Assistant Cashier. In 1974
Mrs. Norris was made
Grant Plaza branch
manager, transferring to
The Bank's Main Office
as auditor in 1974, and
was named to the position
of Assistant Vice
President in April, 1976.
Mrs. Norris is a
graduate of the Georgia
Banking School, the C&S
Personnel School, and the
GBA Bank Auditing
School at Kennesaw
College and is a member
of the Middle Georgia
Chapter National
Association of Bank
Women and the Perry
Business Women's Club.
Her husband, John, is
an employee at Robins
Air Force Base. The
couple has four children:
Natalie, Jeffrey, Sonya
and Stephen. The Norris
family resides on Tucker
Road in Perry and at
tends the Crossroads
United Methodist Church.

held in Pine Mountain,
Georgia recently at the
Callaway Gardens Inn.
G.R.I. is a course in
tended to equip students
with the knowledge and
skills for performing
successfully in real
estate. The spirit of the
G.R.I. program is "to
know" in order "to do".
After successfully
completing Courses I, 11,
and 111, the student
receives G., R.l.
(Graduate, Realtors
Institute), a nationally
recognized designation
indicating proficiency in
real estate.

Plan Events
Several special events
are scheduled for the
weekend at Houston Lake
Baptist Church.
An Easter Egg Hunt for
the children, 12 years and
under, will be held at 2
p.m. on Saturday. All
children are invited.
Bring four boiled eggs for
each child.
The annual Easter
Sunrise Service will be at
7:00 a.m. Sunday.
Doughnuts and drinks
will be served afterward.
A goal of 100 in at
tendance has been set by
the Sunday School. All
members are urged to be
present and to bring
visitors at 9:45 a.m.
The Easter cantata,
"Easter Celebration",
will be presented at 11:00
a.m. worship service.
Evening worship
service at 7:30 p.m. will
be the last service for the
pastor, Rev. J.J. Morrow,
before he leaves for
North Georgia, where he
has answered a call to

my hospital stay and

two visitors, Mrs. Gwen
Hammond and Mrs.
Peggy Chancey.
Mrs. Myra Willis,
president, presided, and
led the group in the
Pledge of Allegiance; she
also gave the devotional
on "Can You Doubt" -
Mrs. Polly Williamson,
Sec.-Treas. called the
roll, read the minutes and
gave the treasurer's
report.

Elects New Officers
The members of the
American Cancer Society
Board met recently to
elect the new officers for
the coming year. Present
were Bobby Tuggle,
Jackie Marshall, Alice
Bailey and Carter Smith.
The new officers
elected were as follows:

of the American Cancer
Society for 1978 consists
of the following mem

The Hemptown Baptist
Church, in Morganton,
Georgia. The Reverend
Morrow has been at
Houston Lake since
August, 1966.

Schedule Seminar
The Macon Chapter of
The National Secretaries
Association will hold its
seventh annual office and
secretarial seminar on
Saturday, April 1, at
Mercer University.
The theme is "Latch
onto the Affirmative,"
and subject matter in
cludes "cultivating at
titudes, developing
leadership and com
municating through the
senses."
Margaret Dillon, CPS,
of M/M Seminars in
Birmingham, will con
duct the program, which
begins with registration
at 8:30 and adjourns at
2:30.
Mrs. Dillon, former
international president of
NSA, is a broadly ex
perienced seminar
leader, with a long and
impressive record of
business and civic
leadership.
The sls registration fee
covers all instruction and
materials, coffee break
and lunch. The luncheon
speaker will be Mildred
Warner Robins Mrs.
Betty Worley placed 2nd
in the after 5 category of
dresses. Several dates
were given for the club to
participate in the main
one being a council
meeting in Warner
Robins on May 8, which is
a covered dish affair.
Each club is to decorate a
table.
Mrs. Pearl Thompson,
program chairman for
"Health and Safety"
gave a short talk on
"Poisonous Everyday
Plants."
The hostesses served
refreshments during the
social hour. The April
meeting will be with Mrs.
Sadie Helms.

Help In Cancer Drive

Westfield Civinettes
under the sponsorship of
Sandra Cooley helped the
Perry-Houston County
Chapter of the American
Cancer Society sell over
100 items of stationary
from Current, In
corporated.
The Civinettes are hard
working young women in
our community who want
to make our community a
better and healthier place
to live. Each month they
participate in a local fund
raising event in the Perry
area, as a means to meet
their goals. The
Civinettes February
project to sell stationary
for the American Cancer
Society is a worthwhile
contribution in the battle
to find a cure for cancer
in our lifetime.
