1-75 Traffic Heavy
Big Tourist Year
Expected In Perry
Tourists have returned to the roads and
highways of Georgia after severe weather
conditions in January and February kept
many of them up North. Traffic on Interstate
75 through Perry has increased tremen
dously during the past three weeks and
tourists dollars are expected to reach an all
time high in Perry this Spring and Summer.
Harold and Elaine Green said this week
their New Perry Hotel had one of the busiest
weekends last week they have ever had.
Harold Green, who probably knows the ins
and outs of the tourist business in Perry as
well as anyone, attributes the increase in
tourist traffic to the weather. He says many
winter tourists are just “catching up” on the
travel time they lost during the cold weather
when they couldn’t get down South. Green
also said that an upswing in the economy
should stimulate family travel this summer
on 1-75 with a record number of tourists
visiting Disney World.

an authority on Georgia tourism. He agrees
that Perry will experience a '“big” tourism

that the impact of Plains, Ga. is bringing
many tourists off 1-75 at Perry.
Georgia Dept, of Transportation traffic
figures reveal that tourists figures have risen
dramatically so far this Spring over the past
several years.
Bobby Branch, president of the Perry Area
