in first year benefits.

Three freshmen pre-journalism majors at the University of Georgia
have been chosen to receive student assistantships. Scott Cutlip, dean of
the University’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication, is

Rosemarie Paterson, 2057 E. Pernoshal Court, Dunwoody; Darlene
Brackins, daughter of Delano and Alma Brackins, Rt 4, Marshall, N.C.;
and Sheri A. Fox, daughter of Wanda Fox, 4078 Stanley St., Perry. The
students will serve their assistantships in the journalism school’s news
editorial sequence.

Announce Winners
Os Membership Drive
The Westfield Booster
Club recently held its
membership drive for
1979-80. To kick-off the
campaign, a family
chickenque was held at
the school with an open
house. The students then
became involved in a
contest to see which class
could get the most
parents and patrons to
join the Booster Club. The
elementary ahd high
school class winners were
chosen on a percentage
based on class enrollment
and recruitment of new
members for the club.
Mrs. Jeanne Bledsoe’s
sixth grade class won in
the elementary school
with Mrs. Florence
Harrison’s senior class
taking the high school
honor. Each winner was

for suggesting the use of
an adhesive-back decal
instead of expensive
charts and covers,
costing $17.59 for each
radio to be repaired. Her
idea saved $37,288 its first
year.
Leroy Hudson, of Elko,
a supervisory electronics
technician in the same
division, was awarded
awarded a $25 cash prize
to be used by the class.
Mrs. Annette Brewer,
membership chairman,
was in charge of the
contest and said that the
drive was most sue- t
cessful. The Booster Club
supports many wor
thwhile academic and
athletic programs for
Westfield and constantly
devotes time and effort in
helping keep Westfield’s
reputation as a fine
learning institution.
Membership is $5 per
family and anyone in
terested in joining may
contact President, Tony
Deloach or Annette
Brewer, chairman of
membership.

Chapter 404, Air Force
Sergeants Association,
opened its annual two
month membership drive
last week.
Senior Airman
Michael Edwards, base
Airman of the Month,
signed up as the first new
member, according to
CMSgt. Larry D. Huyett,
commandant, Air Force
Logistics Command NCO
Academy, drive chair
man.
CMSgt. Jack H. Steed,
senior enlisted advisor at
Robins, is this year’s
honorary drive chair
man.
“With over 132,000
members now, our
current goal is 150,000,”
Huyett said, pointing out
that the local chapter
boasts 1,200 members
and expects to recruit 500
more. CMSgt. Claude L.
Hobby heads the local
chapter. There are 180
chapters and 80 auxiliary
chapters, formed since
1973.
Theme is "Join the real
world, join AFSA,” The
voluntary membership,
Huyett said, is open to all
Air Force enlisted people,
active duty, Air National
Guard, Air Force
Reserve and retirees.
The association was
established, Huyett said,
to speak on behalf of Air
Force enlisted members,
their families and sur
vivors, to Congress, the
Department of Defense
and other concerned
agencies.
