Impressive Ceremony Unites Funk-Tolleson
Miss Sally Ann Funk
and Mr. Thorborn Ross
Tolleson, Jr. were
married in an impressive
double ring ceremony
Sunday. October 7,1979 at
4 o’clock in the afternoon
at the Perry United
Methodist Church. The
Rev. Thomas H. Johnson
officiated at the
ceremony.
The bride is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Martin Richard Funk of
Perry. Mr. and Mrs.
Thorborn Ross Tolleson
of Perry are parents of
the groom.
A beautiful program of
wedding music was
presented by Mrs. Joseph
H. McNutt, organist. She
was also accompanist for
Miss Patty Carter of
Athens, soloist. She sang
“One Hand, One Heart”
after the mothers of the
bridal couple were seated
and “The Lord’s Prayer”
at the close of the
cereomny.
A soft glow fell over the
wedding setting from
candelabra holding white
tapers in hurricane
globes. Emerald fern
trees completed the
setting.
Thorborn Ross
Tolleson, Sr. was his
son’s best man.
Groomsmen were the
bride’s brother, Richard
Funk of Perry; the
groom’s brothers-in-law,
Greg Leonard of Macon
and Joseph
McKenzie of Atlanta; the
groom’s cousin, Carter
Bates of Macon; Nasor
Mansour, 111 of
LaGrange; Danny Stover
of Atlanta: Grady Griffin
of Valdosta and Mayo

maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were the
groom’s sisters, Mrs.
Greg Leonard of Macon
and Mrs. Joseph
McKenzie of Atlanta;
Miss Mary Graves of
Lookout Mountain,
Tennessee; Miss Susan
Mitchell of Atlanta; Mrs.
Steve Crews of
Statesboro and Mrs.
Frank Roper of of Perry.
The attendants wore
identical burgundy silk
knit gowns styled with
double spaghetti shoulder
straps featuring empire
waistlines and soft ac
cordian pleated skirts
and burgundy chiffon
capelets tied at the
shoulder. They carried
bouquets of red roses and
pink pixie carnations.
The radiant bride,
given in marriage by her
father, was lovely in an
elegant gown of white
chiffon with Queen Anne
neckline, modified em
pire bodice embellished
with re-embroidered
alencon lace, seed pearls
and crystals. The full,
sheer Bishop sleeves a
were fitted at the deep
cuffs and the softly
flowing chiffon skirt
formed an attached
chapel train. Her chapel
length mantilla of sheer
illusion was scalloped
edged and inset with
embroidered lace motifs
in alencon design and
sprinkled with seed
pearls. She wore a single
strand of pearls, a gift
from the groom. She
carried a cascade
bouquet of white roses,
stepanotis and baby’s
breath.
Mrs. Funk chose for
her daughter’s wedding a
pink floor length silk knit
gown with long chiffon
sleeves and soft ac
cordian pleated skirt. A
corsage of cymbidium
orchids complemented
her attire.
Mrs. Tolleson, mother
of the groom, selected a
floor length gown of
apricot crepe with a
matching jacket. A
corsage of cymbidium
orchids completed her
outfit.
Mrs. J.D. Shannon,
maternal grandmother of
the groom, wore a dusty
rose silk dress and
matching jacket. Her
corsage was a cym
bidium orchid.
Reception
Following the wedding
ceremony, a reception
hosted by the bride’s
parents was held in the
church social hall. Guests
were greeted by Mrs.
Donald Colder.
The guest registry was
attended by Miss Lori
Colder of Perry. The
table was overlaid with a
white lace cloth. A small
arrangement of Fuji

Rehearsal
On Saturday evening
following the church
rehearsal, Mr. and Mrs.
Tolleson hosted a dinner
honoring their son and his
fiance and their wedding
party in the Garden
Room of the New Perry
Hotel. Silver candelabra
and arrangements of
roses decorated the
tables where the sixty
four guests were seated.
Party
Mrs. Donald Colder,
Mrs. Richard Weik, and
Mrs. Martin Gordon
honored Miss Funk at a
brunch on Saturday
morning.
The patio at the Colder
home on Tucker Road
formed the setting for the
morning party. The
tables were covered with
green linen cloths and
centered with a yellow
candle in hurricane
globes. The hostesses
presented their honoree a
candy dish.
Miss Funk presented
gold add-a-bead bracelets
to her attendants who
were among the sixteen
guests present.
