Hatchett-lMeens Wed
Miss Nancy Ann
Hatchett became the
bride of Mr. Johannes
Meens of Perry on
November 18, 1979. The
wedding was held in the
sanctuary of the First
Baptist Church of Fort
Valley. Miss Hatchett is
the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. John Leon Hatchett
of Fort Valley, and the
groom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Peter Joseph
Meens of Perry, Georgia.
The Kev. Jerry D.
Mahan, pastor of First
Baptist, and the Rev.
Hugh Marshall, pastor of
Saint Patrick’s Catholic
Church of Perry of
ficiated at the wedding.
Mrs. Robert Cleveland
played the organ. Mrs.
Dwight Byrd, sister of the
bride, sang “0 Perfect
Love”. Mrs. Byrd and
Mrs. Erick Seay, sister of
•he bride, sang "The
Wedding Song”,
The bride was given in
marriage by her father.
She wore the same gown
both of her sisters had
worn. Her gown of silk
organza over silk peau de
soie had an applique of
Alencon lace on the
bodice, and a stand up
collar of lace. Full bishop
sleeves had wide lace
appliques cuffs. The
modified A-line skirt was
bordered with the lace.
Her veil fell from a lace
bandeau. Her bouquet
was of Jack Frost roses,
and gypsophila with
white velvet rope loops.
Mrs. Erick Seay served
as her sister’s Matron of
Honor. Other
bridesmaids were Mrs.
Dwight Byrd, sister of the
bride, Mrs. Joseph
Pistone of Norcross,
sister of the groom; Miss
Pat Larkin of Warner
Robins; and Mrs.
Clarence Vinson of
Atlanta. They wore
gowns of wine silk
gorgette with oval
necklines on a full
blouson waist. Sleeves
formed from blouse were
split to the shoulder. They
wore combs of fresh
flowers in their hair
which matched the small
nosegay of pink and ruby
carnations with gyp
sophila and velvet ropes
of pink and wine. The
flower girl was little Miss
Jamie Welch of Macon, a
cousin of the bride. Her
dress was similar to the
bridesmaids.

groom’s brother-in-law,
and Steve Howard of
Perry. The ring bearer
was Mathew Pistone of
Atlanta, the groom’s
nephew.
Mrs. Hatchett chose a
gown of teal blue with a
cymbidium orchid. Mrs.
Meens wore an outfit of
oyster white with a
cymbidium orchid.
Mrs. J. Mack Hatchett,
bride’s paternal grand
mother; and Sister Joan
Konsten of Maastricht,
Holland, aunt of the
groom, were seated.
After the wedding the
bride's parents en
tertained with a lovely
reception at the Fort
Valley Woman’s Club.

The Hurlbutt house,
one of the oldest in the
county, was decorated in
an old-fashioned
Southern Christmas
style, which featured
holly garlands, a nativity
scene, and Christmas
candles.

A Flea Market and Bake Sale will be held at
the National Guard Armory Saturday,
December 15 beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Sale is
sponsored by the Perry Band Boosters.
Everyone is asked to get their items to the Ar
mory Friday between 8; 30 a.m. and 8 p.m. For
pickup of big items call Helen Moore 987-3980,

2368. Virginia Nadeau is chairperson.
The Church Home for the Aged would like to
announce a Christmas party for their patients
and the patient’s families. The party will be held
on December 23, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. The
public is also cordially invited, since we en
courage and appreciate the involvement of the
surrounding communities.
The Warner Robins branch of the American
Association of University Women will have the
annual Christmas party for members on Dec. 11
at 7:00 p.m. at the Officer’s Club on Robins Air
Force Base. The entertainment will be a per
formance of Contemporary Christmas Music by
the Northside High School Ensemble.
The All Saints Episcopal Church will sell
Bazaar items at the Houston Mall on Friday,
Dec. 14. Come do your shopping for Christmas
ornaments and decorations.
