Foster Children
Program Needs
Holiday Money
By Terry Wood
The Foster Childrens’
Christmas Fund director
Marilyn Windham, of
the Family and Children
Services, told the Home
Journal today that the
annual program has not
reached its yearly goal in
funds.
Windham announced
that the Foster Children
Christmas program is
SSOO short of the 1979 goal
of SISOO. The deadline for
contributions has been
set for Monday, Dec. 17.
“Because of the un
favorable publicity
received by the Family
and Children Services
recently, people are
hesitant to give,” says
director Windham. "But
these children need your
gifts desperately. These
are children who have
PAGE 13-A
been abused, neglected
and mistreated in many
ways. Until this year, the
Foster Children
Christmas Fund has been
successful in meeting
their many needs at
Christmas."
Last year the program
reported well over $2,000
in donations said Win
dham. On December 10,
1979 it was reported that
only SIOOO has been
received in donations.
Anyone who may be
interested in contributing
to the annual Foster
Childrens’ Christmas
Fund may do so by
making checks payable
to Foster Childrens’
Christmas Fund and
delivering it to the
Family and Children
Services in Perry, or
mailing checks to: Foster
Childrens’ Christmas
Fund, Family and
Children Services, PO
Box 1289, Perry.
The foster children
being provided for by this
special fund range in age
from infant to 17 years of
age. All donations will go
for the purchase of
clothes, toys and other
necessities according to
the age of each child.
All donations should be
delivered or postmarked
no later than Monday,
December 17. Any
amount will be ap
preciated.
