Baptist Church. Burial
was in Woodlawn
Cemetery. The Rev. Dan
Ariail and the Rev.
James Ivey officiated.
Mr. Satterfield, a
native of Lumpkin
County, lived in Perry
most of his life. He was
retired from the Penn-
Dixie Cement Corp. and
the City of Perry Water

wife, Mrs. Mary Lee
Satterfield of Perry; a
daughter, Mrs. Max
Miller of San Antonio,
Texas; two grand
children and four great
grandchildren.
The family requests
that instead of flowers
donations be made to teh
American Cancer Society
of Perry First Baptist
Church.

11, 1979 in a Cordele
hospital. Services were
held at 3 p.m. Wed
nesday, December 12,
1979 in Unadilla First
Baptist Church. Burial
was in Wesley Chapel
Cemetery in Pulaski
County. The Rev. Archie
Herrin and the Rev.
Curtis Roberts officiated.
Mr. Watson, a native of
Pulaski County, lived in
Dooly County 51 years.
He was a member of
Double Branch Free Will
Baptist Church and was
retired owner and
operator of Watson’s
Shoe Shop.
Survivors include his
wife, Mrs. Omie
Cheatwood Watson of
Unadilla; three
daughters, Mrs. Ned
Newman of Hawkinsville,
Mrs. Charles Cawthon of
Belpre, Ohio, formerly of
Elko, and Mrs. Rha
McCleskey of Pinehurst;
two sons Leon Watson Jr.
of Unadilla and Wayne
Watson of Tampa, Fla.;
two sisters, Mrs. George
Coleman of Hawkinsville
and Mrs. George Gibson
of Perry; 13 grand
children, 15 great
grandchildren and a
great-great-grandchild.

Rites Held
Joseph Toomer, 57,
died Sunday, December
9, 1979 in a Perry
hospital. Services were
held at 2 p.m. Saturday,
December 15 in Brown
Chapel C.M.E. Church.
Burial was in the church
cemetery. The Rev. J.L.
Burney officiated.
Mr. Toomer, a native of
Houston County, was a
veteran of World War 11.
Survivors include a
son, Nathaniel Toomer of
Miami, Fla.; two sisters,
Mrs. Estella Cannor of
Belle Glade, Fla., and
Miss Lethan Toomer of
St. Petersburg, Fla.;

officiated.
Mrs. Jones, a native of
Crawford County, was a
member of Chamlee
Memorial Baptist
Church.
Survwors include her
husband, T.J. Jones of
Fort Valley; four
daughters, Mrs. Nadine
Sharp, Mrs. Christine
Robbins and Mrs. Hilda
Lawhorn, all of Fort
Valley and Mrs. Irene
Trawick of Perry; three

Former Perry Pastor Returns
Dr. Billy Key (left) was guest speaker at the annual ladies night
banquet of the Perry Kiwanis Club last Tuesday night at the New Perry
Hotel. Dr. Key is a former pastor of the Perry Methodist Church. Here he

Service. Durham is a
1976 graduate of Perry
High and was
Homecoming Queen
for 75-76. She received
her promotion Sept. 14,
1979.
Christmas
Luncheon
Enjoyed
A Christmas covered
dish luncheon and gift
exchange highlighted the
last meeting of the
Houston County Senior
Citizens Club. The
meeting was held at the
Ted Wright Memorial
Park on Thursday,
December 13th with 71
members and guests
present.
Proceeding the lun
cheon, the members
trimmed the club
Christmas tree. All the
decorations were hand
made by the members
and donated to the club
for this year’s tree and
for future trees.
Since there will be no
meetings during the
holidays, the next
meeting will be held on
Thursday, January 10,
1980 proceeded by a
pancake breakfast.
Following the breakfast,
officers for 1980 will be
elected.
Any Houston County
resident 60 years or older
is invited to attend and is
eligible for membership.
