County School superintendent David Perdue
told the Home Journal Wednesday morning
that he and his staff are meeting with prin
cipals and teachers in the school system to
determine the best approach to the supreme
court’s order of total integration for Houston

Club ... The Perry Teen Club will have a
special Christmas dance at the Old Store
Building at Houston Lake Saturday night
from 8-12. The “Boogie Chillun” from Macon
will furnish the music ... Now showing at the
Muse Theater is “Change of Habit” starring
Elvis Presley and Mary Tyler Moore” ...
Some of Mrs. Sally Stanley’s dance students
will appear in a special Christmas production
of the Dell Ward Show on WMAZ Channel 13
Friday. Those dancers are: Claire Davis,

Whipple Sr., Perry insurance man and
church and civic leader, has been named
“Man of the Year for Houston County” by the
Perry Kiwanis Club ... Retail sales in
Houston County totaled $8,397,251 during the
third quarter of 1959 as compared to
$7,668,238 in the same period of 1958 ac
cording to the Georgia state chamber of
commerce ... The Perry Loan and Savings
Bank is pictured as some steel goes up on the
new building ... On special this week at Perry
Super Foods are: Turkeys - 43 cents lb.,
Bacon - 3 lbs. for SI.OO, Coca Cola - 6 bottle
carton 19 cents, Oranges - 3 lb. bag 39 cents,

estimated at 2,000 gathered here last
Thursday afternoon to see Santa Claus arrive
on the Nancy Hanks 111 ... Kicklighter Drug
Company is reported to have leased the
Anderson Building, now occupied by W.L.
Little Furniture, and will install an air
conditioned drug store ... Judge and Mrs.
A.M. Anderson, who have three girls, got
their wish last week when a “little judge”
was born to Mrs. Anderson Wednesday night
at the Gallemore Clinic ... Hubert A. Ault
man, Perry attorney, has been named city
attorney for the City of Warner Robins ...
Now showing at the Roxy Theater is “John
Loves Mary” starring Ronald Reagan and
Patricia Neal ... The kindergarten class of
Mrs. Eric Staples enjoyed a Holiday party
this week. They were: Kay Coleman, David
Lawson, George Nunn, Martha Lynn Watson,
Freddy Lewis, Porter Staples, Lynn Smith,
Sandra and Shirley Dixon, Julianne Smith,
Carol Etheridge, Mimi Wagnon, Sue Wilson,
Adalaine Stocks and Gail Roberson ... Miss
Bess Nunn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G.C.
Nunn was one of ten Wesleyan College
students elected as a “Campus Superlative”
on the basis of leadership ability, per
sonality, academic achievements, and
popularity. Miss Nunn is a member of the
swimming team, the basketball and soccer
teams, the Glee Club and the International
Relations Club. As a superlative, she will be
featured in the Veterropt, Weslyan yearbook

Art At Tucker
Art, in its many, varied forms and modes of
expressions is an integral part of the learning
process at Tucker Elementary School. For the
past two years the P.T.C. has been purchasing
new easels for the school’s art program. Pic
tured busily at work with their latest art project
in the painting center in Phyllis Peavey’s first
grade class are: L-R, Allen Kennedy, Darius
Jackson, Candice Longino, Tripp Peake and
Yvonne Thomas.

To earn this coveted
award each cadet must,
during his after school

their daughter and sister,
Keri Rebecca, born on
December 4, 1979 at the
Houston County Hospital.
Keri weighed 8 lbs. 8 ozs.
and was 21 y 2 inches long
at birth. She was born on
Lori’s 4th birthday. Both
Lori and Keri were born
at 12:32 p.m. Mrs. Sutton
is the former Carolyn
Bowen.

Launch Site. Build and
Launch, at least four
model rockets of different
types. Operate in at least
four different leadership
positions during the
launching of model
rockets.
This is the greatest
number of cadets to have
qualified for this badge so
early in the school year.
Since the Model Rocketry
Club is a co-curricular
activity associated with
the AFJROTC, the cadets
must devote many hours
of their “free time” to
learn all about rockets
and meet the needed
requirements. This is a a
fun learning experience.
Now, these cadets, in
addition to all of the
former members will
concentrate on
preparation toward the
annual AFJROTC Model
Rocketry Georgia State
Meet to be held at the
University of Georgia
during the spring.
