Dear God, this special
prayer is offered to ex
pound on my letter to
“Santa”, using its con
tents to lift up the
greatest love ever known.
Some folks disbelieve
your existence, too, but it
is well worth speaking out
for.
Moreso than “Santa”,
You were an important
Being in my childhood
days. You were not just
an annual visitor, but was
present at all times. Your
gifts were not limited to
Christmas morning. You
generously provided
from day to day -- not
waiting for a “want list”.
So often your generosity
was not acknowledged.
When time is taken to
concentrate on your
being conceived by the
Virgin Mary (Isaiah 7:14;
Luke 1:26-35) the
journey of Mary and
Joseph from Galilee to
Bethlehem (Luke 2:1-7),
how tiresome it must
have been -- Your birth in
a stable with only a
manger for a bed (Luke
2:6-7) - the threat upon
your young life (Matthew
2) -- In later years, but
still a young man, your
last supper with the
twelve disciples - being
denied by Peter
arrested and condemned
(Matthew 26) - sentenced
and crucified (Matthew
27:1-50) - The
Resurrection (Matthew
28:1-10) - The whole thing
is a great mystery.
The greatest mystery is
the question: “WHY?”
You had the power to
prevent your “only
begotten son” from being
subjected to the pain and
agony He suffered. Yet,
because of your desire to
free mankind from sin,
You permitted these
things to take place. Not
one is deserving of this
gift.
There’s absolutely no
comparison between You
and “Santa”. He’s really
no different, except in
appearance, from the
rest of us who find
pleasure in making little
children happy. I like to
think of “Santa” as being
one of Your helpers,
sowing love rather than
merely distributing toys.
It is heartbreaking to
see a child feeling
unloved by “Santa"
because of being left out
at Christmas. A more
heartbreaking thing is to
see one being deprived
the security of knowing
there is a loving God who
never leaves anyone out.
We adults need to be as
conscientious over
teaching the truth
throughout the year as on
this one day.
I am grateful for the
privilege of being a
mother and the trust You
bestowed upon me to help
direct two of Your

children during their
days of childhood. I thank
You for being patient
with me and Your
forgiveness of my
failures. It is my prayer
that we did not dishonor
Your precious name by
permitting “Santa” to be
a part of the children’s
Christmas.
We have so much to be
thankful for. It’s im
possible to ever suf
ficiently express ap
preciation for your en
dless love.
A piece of cake beneath
the tree is not enough to
give to Thee-
To simply say, “O
Lord, Thank You” is not
enough for me to do -
To show my love - The
only way is to live for
Jesus every day.
Let me not forget your
words in Matthew 25:40,
“Inasmuch as ye have
done it unto one of the
least of these my
brethren, ye have done it
unto me.”
Help me, Dear Lord, to
be open to your daily
guidance that I may be
instrumental in
spreading “Peace on
Earth, Good Will to
Men.”
