U.D.C. Meets

Mrs. A.L. Downs,
honorary president of the
Georgia Division, in
troduced the Division
president, who gave
highlights from the
general convention held
in November in Rich
mond, Virginia. Georgia
won thirty-one awards
and had 32 delegates
present at the general
convention.

Miss Catherine Ryals,
president, welcomed the
members and guests and
presented Mrs. Harvey
Nesmith who read
"Keeping Christmas" by
Henry Van Dyke as a
devotional message.
The tea table was
centered with an
arrangement of red and
white carnations and held
platters of decorative and
delicious party foods.
Methodist Women
Hold Meeting
The Christmas meeting
of Perry United
Methodist Women was
held Monday afternoon in
the Church sanctuary and
concluded with a social in
the Fellowship hall. The
program presented by
Mrs. Thomas Johnson,
vice-president, was given
by Mrs. Mary Tate
Hatfield, dean of Student
Services at Wesleyan
College, Macon, Georgia
who gave a reading of
“The Other Wise Man"
by Henry Van Dyke.
Mrs. Harris Chapman,
secretary of Special
Mission gifts, presented
ten Special mission
recognition pins to adults
and six baby certificates
for mission gifts in their
honor by their grand
mothers.

A Christmas love of
fering was placed on the
altar by the seventy-five
members present. This
offering will go to the
three mission projects of
the South Georgia Con
ference. These are the
Open Door Community
House in Columbus,
Vashti Home in
Thomasville, and the
Wesley Community
Center in Savannah.
Mrs. Dan Britton,
president, welcomed
those present and ex
tended the following
wish; “May all your gifts
this Christmas be bright
packages beneath your
tree filled with blessings
from above and cheerful
smiles from those you
love. May there come to
each of you at this holiday
time an abundance of the
precious things of life;
good health, much
happiness, enduring
friendships, deep con
tentment and hope for the
coming year.”
An arrangement of red
carnations was the center
piece of the altar
decorations. Pots of red
poinsettias on either side
completed the decorative
scene.
In the Fellowship Hall,
a number of pots of red
poinsettias were used.
The tea table held the
punch bowl and platters
of holiday “goodies”.
The program and social
were repeated at an
evening meeting for those
who could not attend in
the afternoon. Only one
pin was presented at this
service; that of Mrs.
Clarence Davis. Twenty
five attended at night.

Cooper Wright, 111. He
arrived December 3, 1980
at Memorial Hospital
weighing six pounds and
eight ounces.

Plano, Illinois. The great
grandmothers are Mrs.
Susie Wright of Butler
and Mrs. Bessie Pittman

Banquet will be held at
6:30 p.m. Saturday,
December 13 at the
Ochlahatchee Club
House.
The covered dish
dinner will be served at
6:30 and the program will
begin at 7:30. The Rev.
and Mrs. Evan Hen
derson will share in
presenting the program.
“Tex” as he is known
and wife, Nancy and their
children, Kimberly and
Mark are the parsonage
family and serve the
Rochelle United
Methodist Church. Mr.
Henderson is also advisor
for the Perry Aglow
chapter.
Everyone is invited to
join in the Christmas
spirit and the fellowship
at the Aglow meeting.
