Hugh Frank Armstrong, Jr.
MACON - Hugh Frank Armstrong, Jr., 41, formerly of Perry died
September 3, 1991 after a brief illness. Burial was held at Evergreen
Cemetery in Macon. He was the son of the late Frank and Mildred
Armstong.

Besides Bible studies, the students participated in art
classes.

The daily classes began with songs. These children
were part of the choir that performed daily.
VBS held at Spring Greek Baptist
The Spring Greek Baptist
Church in Elko held Vacation Bible
School the week of June 29-July 3.
More than 30 students with three
instructors attended daily and there
were two guest aides during the
week. The students ranged from age
three to 14. In addition to
traditional Bible classes, the
students learned new skills in art,
new games and songs.
The children were served a snack
daily and on July 3, all enjoyed a
picnic planned by the students. Alj
present found the week rewarding
and enjoyable. It was a week of fun.

French village in 1935. The play
blends romance, music and comedy.
Local talent includes Chris
Gillespie as Dominique, Lisa
Pryor as Denise, Wcndi Hammock,
Donna Hooper, Andy Mathis, Mark
Strandburg and Carol Strandburg
who is directing the two-act musi
cal.

"Fantastic Journey" is the theme
of Vacation Bible School at Hous
ton Lake Baptist Church, 2290
Hwy. 127 N. Perry, on July 20-24.
Age three through sixth grade will
meet from 9 a.m. until noon.
Grades seven through 12 will meet
from 7-9 p.m. Everyone is invited.
Smith named to
UGA Dean’s List
Ainiee Louise Smith of Perry, a
senior arts and sciences major, has 1
been named to the University of
Georgia’s spring quarter Dean’s
List.
Nomination to the Dean’s List
means a student has earned a 3.6
grade point average or higher out of
a possible 4.0.
Hancock named to
MT Dean’s List
Macon Tech announced recently
that Jason Hancock of Perry was
named to the Dean’s List for spring
quarter 1992. Hancock earned a 4.0
GPA. He is the son of Melvin and
Janice Hancock of Perry.
Smith named to

ronmental science major, has been

Poets are encouraged to
enter national contest
A grand prize of SISOO is being
offered for the best poem in a new
contest sponsored by Sparrowgrass
Poetry Forum. Thirty-four other
cash prizes will also be awarded.
There is no cost to enter.
The rules are simple: each poet
may enter,one poem only, 20 lines
or less, in any style, on any sub
ject. Contest closes Sept. 30, 1992,
but poets tire encouraged to submit
their work as soon as possible.
Winners will be notified by Nov
30, 1992.
