about club fund raisers
By EMERY WARNOCK
Staff Writer
Jimmy Faircloth spoke to fellow
Perry Rotary Club members Mon
day discussing fund raising ideas
that have been used by other Rotar

Faircloth, a former member of the
Americus Rotary Club, explained
fund raisers including a Jamboree,
get-away trips, golf tournaments
and programs in connection with
other civic groups arc big money
makers.
He said the Jamboree, which has
been used by the Americus Rotary
Club, is situated in a gymnasium
and involves many subordinate pro
grams such as a cake-walk, a talent
show, high school music ensem
bles, basketball games and chil
dren’s cane-fishing games. Faircloth
added the primary project is a bar
becue for eating on the grounds or
either carry-out.
“The net profit the Americus Ro
tary Club made was $9,000 for one
Jamboree,” Faircloth said.
“These are really neat ways to
promote friendship,” he said.
Faircloth said that possible golf
tournaments would involve celebri
ties. Faircloth mentioned dial Louis
Grizzard came to the Americus Ro

He discussed get-away trips for
two which he said would include
Supcrbowl games, mountain or

“The more trips you get, the more
beneficial it is for the price of the
ticket. Sometimes members can
donate their own places to use or
hotel rooms may be donated. You
need at least four or five trips for it
to be beneficial. The proceeds for
the club can average about $4,000,”
Faircloth said.
“The majority of these programs
are really good ways to make
money and the community looks
forward to it,” he said.
