Green connects two
times in dunk contest
By COSBY WOODRUFF

Perry's Tazari Green was one of
just three players to make both
dunk attempts during the finals of
the GACA North-South all-star
slam dunk contest Thursday.
Both of Green's dunks were run
ning two-handers after he started
near mid-court.
He, along with Manchester's
Darrell Dunham and May s Landers
Nolley, were the only of the six fi
nalist to slam both chances home,

Fishing, from 2B —
Oconee - Lake is full and clear, but the fishing is off some.
Catfish and bream are biting well, but everything else is slow.
- Reported by The Country Store
Suwannee, Fla. - Redfish and speckled trout have been
biting best recently. Different baits such as red-heads, shrimp
and lures have been catching the most fish.

Green finally went on to score
two points, grab a couple of re
bounds and acculate a few other
stats in his dozen or so minutes.
By a quarter after midnight the
whole thing was over, but we still
faced a long drive back to Houston
County.
Now, after a couple of days ol
reflections, I have come up with a
couple of ideas that could make the
game go smoother.
First, in baseball, go back to the
old format of one game of nine in
nings rather than two games of
seven innings.
Then limit the size of the team
to about 15 players.
For basketball, I think the game

but Green's selections were not of
the artistic nature of Dunham's.
Dunham scored a perfect 50 on
both of his chances, the second an
attempt over three people standing
in the lane.
Carlos Strong from Cedar
Shoals had tried his second attempt
by jumping over four people, but
he missed his dunk badly after
completing the jump.
Craig Furgeson of Jordan and
John Griffiths of Parkview also
missed one dunk each.
could be made to go better if the
size of the teams is reduced to 10
players.
Also, consider moving the start
of the girls game from 7 p.m. up to
about 5:30.
Finally, explain to the referees
that it is an all-star game and try to
get them to let some of the petty
stuff go to keep the game moving.
Maybe then we could see the
game end in time to watch the
highlights on the late news.
But anyway, congratulations to
all the Perry athletes who made the
teams this year. Whether you
posted the big stats or not, you rep
resented your school well. Now,
just go and do the same in college.

Hamrick said of the event.

The second game followed a
completely different script.
Mike Hall hurled a near master
piece in long relief (three innings,

The North did not even collect
