Emma Jean Blount
WARNER ROBINS - Emma Jean "Pretty" Blount, 46, of 218
Memorial Terrace, died November 17 in a local hospital. Bom in Houston
County, she was the daughter of the late Annie Strowder. Survivors:
husband, Gregory Blount of New Haven, Conn.; father and stepmother,
Willie Strowder and Inez Strowder, both of Perry; sister and brother,
Pearlie Mae Rountree and Tommie Strowder, both of Perry. Services: 2
p.m. on November 22 in Oldfield Baptist Church, Perry. Burial: Davis
Hill Church Cemetery, Fort Valley. The Rev. W.G. Bass will officiate.
The family may be contacted at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Roger
Rountree, 1333 Pierce St., Perry. Richardson and Son Funeral Home in
Perry has charge of arrangements.
Ellis Colson
PERRY - Ellis Colson of 2309 Macy Ave. died November 18 in a
local hospital. Bom in Houston County, he was the son of the later
Virgil and Maria Colson. Survivors: wife, Annie Mae Colson of Perry;
daughter, Evelyn Pcavy of Perry; stepson of Perry; stepson, Bobby Brown
of Valdosta; sisters, Laura Dirham of Abbeville and Maggie Lou Lundon
of Macon; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Services:
November 21 in Richardson Funeral Home, Perry. Burial: Hayncvillc
Cemetery. Brother James Kelley will officiate.
Gladys McCrary
FORT VALLEY - Gladys McCrary, 72, of 1001 Edward St. died
November 15 in a local hospital. Born in Fulton County, she was a
member of Richland Baptist Church in Fort Valley. Survivors: sisters,
Lula Mae Vance of Perry and Justine Adams of Fort Valley. Services:
12:30 p.m. on November 22 in Richland Baptist Church, Fort Valley.
Burial: church cemetery. The Rev. L.R. Rccze will officiate. Edwards
Funeral Home in Fort Valley has charge of arrangements.
Ethel M. Pahmier
NEW CASTLE, In. - Ethel M. Pahmier, 84, of 1113 S. 21st St., New
Castle, died November 15th in Henry County Memorial Hospital
following a long illness. She had resided in New Castle most of her life,
where she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and was a
hairdresser for more than 50 years, owning and operating Ethel's Beauty
Shop. She was a member of the American Cosmetology Association.
Bom March 24, 1908 in Haslcy, Ky„ she was the daughetr of Maynard
and Mae Harrell Wright. Survivors: daughter, Patricia (Mrs. Russell)
Hutson of Perry, Ga.; a grandson; two great-grandsons; a half-sister,
Florence Hickerson of Murphrccsboro, Tenn.; three half-brothers, Robert
Edward, and Jesse Wright, all of LaFollcttc, Tenn.; and several nieces,
nephews, and cousins. Her husband, Oscar C. Pahmier, died in 1983.
Services: were November 19 at 11 a.m. in Macer-Hall Funeral
Homc.with the Rev. Judy Marshall officiated. Burial: South Mound
Cemetery.

Fellowship at Crossroads United

Street, Perry is sponsoring the ap
pearance of Reinhardt College's
contemporary performing ensemble,
"Daybreak", Wednesday, Dec. 2.
The concert is scheduled to begin at
7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.
Preceding the concert, a
Christmas Mission Dinner will be
served by the youth at 6:30 p.m. in
the fellowship hall. A buffet of
soup, salad, dessert and bread will

newly revised edition of a breastfeeding book to

The Wednesday Afternoon Book
Club met Nov. 18 at the home of
Mrs. Marie Marshall with Mrs.
Carolyn Whipple as co-hostess.
After delicious refreshments were
served President Carolyn Etheridge
presided over the business meeting.
Names were drawn for the tradi
tional exchange of Christmas gifts.
Mrs. Hilda Walker reported that
Mrs. Malissa Tucker was visiting
relatives in Winder until January.
Plans were made to send her birth
day cards on her 93rd birthday Dec.

by Mrs. Louise Lawson, the pro
gram was presented by Mrs.
Virginia Dean. She very capably
reviewed Darden A. Pyron's
Southern Daughter: The Life of
Margaret Mitchell, a definitive bi
ography of the author of Gone With
the Wind, the most famous novel
in the English-speaking world and
the greatest movie in the world.
Mrs. Mitchell's life and personality
were fascinating.
Mrs. Dean told of Perry's late
Mr. David Crockett having been
Margaret Mitchell's first cousin.
Their mothers were sisters who
lived near each other on Peach Tree.
The book included pictures of their
childhood.
Plans were announced for the
Christmas luncheon at 12:30 Dec.
16 at the New Perry Hotel.
