Deborah Middlebrooks, left, Connie Peavy and Debra Bragg were responsible for
decorating Chapman CPA's storefront on Carroll Street. The business won first
place In the downtown merchant's storefront decorating contest, an event
associated with the 1993 Christmas at the Crossroads celebration. Other winners
included W.D. Sullivan, second place; Daisy Patch, third place; and Impressions
and Santa's Room received Honorable Mention.

Friends and co-workers visited with Perry Mayor Jim Worrall and his wife
Frances, both at right, at their home Friday. Worrall received a motorcade escort
home and his co-workers at City Hall threw him a welcome home party. Worrall
was released from Emory University Hospital Friday after recent back surgery.

Weyerhaeuser officially takes over P&G

The Flint River Proctor and
Gamble plant officially became the
Weyerhaeuser Company Thursday
as Weyerhaeuser officials welcomed
500 employees to their family at a
special plant site ceremony.
Weyerhaeuser officials finalized
the Flint River acquisition Nov. 30
as they also acquired Proctor and
Gamble’s Barnesville sawmill,
175,000 acres of timberland and
k manufacturing facilities and forest

store; a Mexican restaurant, a
Chinese restaurant, Subway
Sandwiches, Madwhacker, Strauther

International Travel Agency.
Relocating from the Kmart Plaza

He said, "It's one of the pretti
est and best centers we've ever
built."
Jenkins said about six open
ings exist in Perry Marketplace
along with the lot next to Chick
fil-a.
Since Kmart moved to Perry
Marketplace, and Pic-n-pay and
Christie Brinkley and singer Tanya
Tucker.
The championship futurity
tournament will be at the
Agricentcr Jan. 13-17.
Also discussed was the possi
bility of a horseshoe tournament
being held at the Agricentcr Jan.

had discussed the possibility with

specialist, and they thought it was a
good idea.
Coscy said, "People from

Kmart shopping center.

Westmoreland said Kmart, Pic
n-pay and Cato are responsible for
their monthly rent at the old shop
ping center despite their moving.
He said Kmart is currently talking
with two possible tenants.
He said, "I'm not concerned.
The real estate is in a prime area."
Westmoreland also varified the
rumor Edgar Barfield, a local ac
countant, and a group are thinking
about buying the plaza. Barfield
said, "We have talked about it, but
we're not sure." He said if they do
decide to purchase the plaza, it will
be "rather quickly."
Barfield said they're keeping it
quiet as to what the group will do
with the facility if they buy it.

said the authority is planning to bid
on having the World Championship
Horseshoe Tournament in Perry for
1995.

which they would maintain instead
of paying someone else to service it
