to speak at local
church service
Kings Chapel Memorial
Christian Methodist Episcopal
Church of Perry will celebrate their
annual Men and Women's Day on
Sunday, Feb. 20th. The Rev.
Willie Barber is the Pastor.
The speaker for this year's
observance is Mr. Alfonso Owens,
a retired educator, a native of Ocilla,
Ga.
He is a member of Broaches
Chapel CME Church in Ocilla and
serves as a Steward, trustee and
adult Sunday School teacher.
Vesta Club
slates tour,
lunch meet
The Vesta Club will meet on
Thursday, Feb. 17 at 11:30 a.m. at
Shoney's for lunch and a short
business meeting.
Afterwards the group will motor
to Massee Lanes for a tour of the
Cammellia Gardens. We urge
everyone to be present if possible.

Death notices
Arthur Green Jr.
Arthur Green Jr., Otto, of 1210 Oliver SL, died Thursday, Feb. 10,
1994 at a local hospital. Bom in Houston County, he was the son of the
late Arthur Green Sr. and the late Ola Green. He received his Bachelor
Degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice and Master Degree in
Rehabilitative Counseling at Fort Valley State College. He was part
owner of Sir Arthur Beauty Supply and was employed with the State of
Georgia as a Correction Officer. He worked at the men’s Correctional
Institution in Milledgeville for ten years. He was transfered to the
Correction Institution in Dooly County one week prior to his death. He
served in the U.S. Army. Survivors: wife, Geneva Green of
Milledgeville; children, Arthur Green 111 and Jarvita Green, both of
Milledgeville and James Arthur Sirmon of Kileen, Texas; sisters and
brothers, Luella Green and Linda Lawton, both of Perry, Larry Green,
Alonzo Green and Judson Alexander, all of Perry and Henry Green of
Kentucky.
Services: Were held Wednesday, Feb. 16, 1994 at the New Hope
Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Burial followed in the Sandbed Church
Cemetery. The Rev. John Wilbur officiated. The family may be contacted
at the residence of Luella Green, 1111 Forrest St., Perry. Richardson
Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Tracy Scott Robinson
Tracy Scott Robinson, 26, of 1207 Charles Ave., died Saturday, Feb.
12, 1994 at a local hospital. Mr. Robinson was the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas Funderburk. He was employed at Tolleson Lumber .Company in
Perry and was married to Tammy Roberts of Perry. Mr. Robinson was a
life-long resident of Houston County and will be sadly missed by his
family, relatives and friends. Survivors: wife, Tammy Roberts of Perry;
daughter, Courtney Roberts of Perry; sons, Coty Robinson and Dustim
Williams, both of Perry; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Funderburk of
Clinchfield; sister and brothers, Lavelle Yanson and Mike Robinson, both
of Perry and Ossie Funderburk of Clinchfield; paternal grandmother,
Jennie Funderburk of Alexander City, Ala.
Services: Were held Tuesday, Feb. 15,1994 in the Hayneville Baptist
Church at 11 a.m. The Rev. Gene McKinney officiated. Burial took place
in the Hayneville Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family
suggest contributions to the Tracy Robinson Fund at the Crossroads Bank
in Perry. The family will be at the residence of Lavelle Yanson, 1500
Limerock Road. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Delphian members enjoy salad luncheon
The February meeting of the
Delphian Club was held Thursday,
Feb. 10 at the lovely home of Hilda
Walker. A salad luncheon was
enjoyed with each member bringing
her favorite salad. After the
luncheon door prizes were given to
the lucky ladies.
Joan Eubanks presided over the
business session which followed.
Hans were discussed for the March
10th trip to Albany for a tour, a
Tucker plans first school wide science fair
February is "Science Month at
Tucker" and plans are well
underway few the first school wide
Science Fair to be held Saturday,
March sth, with judging by local
volunteers to begin at 10:15 a.m.
This is a joint effort of the school
and Parent-Teacher Organization for
the purpose of introducing and
encouraging science education at an
early age.
Science is all around us and
parents and other family members
can help the students in
development of their projects,
providing the opportunity for
science exploration at home. The

Twenty Delphians enjoyed this
delightful luncheon.
Science Fair has been down played,
and every student, not just the
privileged or intellectual, will be
able to participate.
A school assembly will be held
on Monday following the fair.
Every participant will be recognized
with an award of participation and
prizes given to two students in each
grade level for "Best of Fair".
Tucker Elementary is looking
forward to an exciting educational
event and fun for all.
